Ford rangers do not come with tailgate dampers, including the 2023. Shocking discovery.
Ford rangers have a shock absorber, factory and AFTERMARKETS most under $50. For the Ford rangers tailgate. Easy install.
My brother-in-law has a 2022 Ford Ranger FX4. How disappointing.

For Toyota at least it is a easy fix for newer 2016 Tacomas and up. Not too expensive for the parts too.

I've gone through 1 a year since I bought my truck in 2020. I went to the dealer today and bought 2 more Hinge Side Gate Sup bushings. If someone made one aftermarket out of a stronger plastic- it would sell like crazy. I'm reminded of the teflon/delrin like strips on snowmobile tracks.

There was a guy who made theses 3-D hinge ( rubber)for the early 2016 Tacoma . I am sure if you contact a 3- D company , you could be the next supplier ( your own businesses) . And sell here on the Compass FORUMS.

Hinge Side gate Sup bushings - is factory ones that bad?

My 2022 just broke and my tundra broke 2 in 5 weeks. At least the Tacoma you can replace just the bushing. The tundra requires you to buy the entire hinge assembly that mounts to the shock. Still waiting to hear back from dealer on the tundra one as I would assume an oem part would have at least a 5 week warranty, bunch of clowns

Sorry to hear this. The 2016 Tacomas tailgate hinge had two different versions. My son’s bushing was the early years, and this part became obsolete. The newer 2016 Tacomas and later years , parts are still available.

We found a person who made 3D copies, and we purchase from him , plus one extra for spare.
Yep! Toyota will not carry those obsolete parts ,leaving many owners out of luck.

Toyota does NOT care! To me Toyota is going “cheap” no longer is quality a priority. Drum brakes ? Till 2023?My 2001 Camry had 4-disc brakes. Why the Tacoma waited till 2024? To get 4-disc brakes.

I am glad to see other truck companies out shining Toyota Tacomas ..giving Toyota a run for there money.
Other companies offering more features, for Toyota to only watch.

Will Toyota offer front and rear lockers ( true lockers? ) nah!

I have a 21 Tacoma and mine has broken twice already. It could be partly my fault as the bed slide I built was pushing a bit against the tailgate initially. I corrected the issue and it has not broken again so far. Still a weak design as the pressure exerted was not very much. I am disappointed in the poor engineering…

I just had our bushing on a 2021 tacoma replaced in April by the dealer and it's broken again. It's still under warrenty. Tried to get them to just send me the part but they want me to take 2+ hours out of my day to bring it in again. No hard work here other then letting the tailgate down for the dog to jump in. Junk. Think I will for-go the warrenty and replace it myself.

Noticed my dampened tailgate not dampening as much anymore a couple weeks ago. Didn’t see any cracks in the bushing so i was putting off ordering a new one. Finally blew up yesterday. Now have 2 on order.

Happened to me and bent the corner. Trying to see if Toyota will fix. Sounds like it should be a recall for a better piece if so many people have problems. I saw somewhere on this site to call 1-800 number but can not find. Said if enough people call the will look into problem

This happened to a fiend of mine, does the plastic bushing get jammed and cause the tailgate to bend on the corner?

Was just looking at mine again, looks like the actual hinge might have bent on the bottom.
