    Uhm...what?

Sure if they work for what you're trying to do.

    We can't read your mind.

Those aren't cables by the way.

    That was quite confusing !

I thought you were replacing the tail gate support cables.

I have no idea about the rear window of a cap hydraulic supports.

Yup. I haven't been able to make sense of a single post from the OP. I can't tell if OP is ESL or just using talk to text on their phone. I kinda doubt the TOT though... it would have spelled "hydraulic" correctly.

IDK dude, I'd walk that back. If the OP is non-english speaking (which I'd bet is likely), that's not very inclusive.

I am pretty shitty If I am wrong too . Maybe he's not ESL but just types like a "normal" youth these days without punctuation or sentence structure.

I didn't post the doctor comment, but my comment about ESL could be equally as incorrect.

Are you trying to replace a tailgate cable with a gas strut?

That's my thought as well, but he said 'support' which...you can't add payload to a bed simply by adding gas struts on there.

Unless he means he wants a tailgate that opens softly? Or?

OP, I've actually looked into this. well, at least until i removed my tailgate.

They make kits for this but not for our trucks. You would not be able to replace the cables. The gas struts can't hold the weight of the tailgate, let alone any weight placed on it.
however, if you can determine the length needed you can make a bracket to add the gas strut to the tailgate to give you the soft open feature you're looking for.
I am unaware of anyone that has done this to our trucks though. Does anyone else know if someones successfully done this?

A cable will be far stronger than a gas strut.

To close the tailgate softly just requires some mindfulness on your part.
