Hey guys. I am looking for a tailgate extender that can flip into bed when not in use. Any recommended types or reviews would be great

That looks good. AND Solid too so you could probably tie down to it if need be. Check around online you'll probably find a better price.

I installed the OEM bed extender as I worked it into the deal when I purchased the truck a few weeks ago. The install was easy and not complicated; I like it and it looks decent, but that's always a matter of opinion. The downside of the OEM vs other after market models is the newer version of the OEM as the sides set at angles, more like it's half of an octagon, rather than more squared or rounded off. Therefore, you don't have as much usable bed space when it's folded out. I've heard of people requesting the previous model of the bed extender from Toyota, which isn't as angled in as the current one. This is my third short bed truck and I've always had a bed extender, find it very helpful. Just check out different models, they have different profiles and heights, etc. Depends what you want to use it for.

I like the larger more squared off one. I hope it will fit when rolled into bed

I have a 2012 but bought a 2011 OEM unit. As stated above the '11 is the last squared off unit. I really never used it to extend the bed, but I use it all the time to keep all my grocery bags from going all over the bed. This was the reason I bought it. Well worth the money.

I have the AMP MotoExtender. The top two rungs extend further out to clear the back tire on my dirt bike(short bed).

If you have a bed cover or haul dirt bikes, you will need the drop in bed clamps. That way the bed extender does not have to be rotated up to be installed or removed.

What's your concern with it not fitting? Tonneau? Toolbox? DCSB? When rolled into the bed it extends ~2ft from the tailgate.

^ That one from AMP looks like an updated version of the Bed X-Tender HD they realeased last year. I noticed it is called Bed X-Tender HD MAX, and it looks similar to the old OEM extender. It is not so narrow anymore and has way more usable room. I don't see it on AMP site anywhere though.

I have the original Toyota OEM extender made by AMP. Here is mine. I think its very useful for a short box truck. I use it for transporting kayaks, they rest on the top tube and overhang the truck, mountain bikes and random stuff that does not really fit well otherwise. It is useful all year round even while flipped in the bed as it stops my groceries from sliding all around the bed. It is fairly sturdy and well made. I have a soft roll-up tonneau from Access and it still flips over. I think it is the most used accessory after the tonneau I added to my truck. I was surprised how much I ended up using it once I installed it. If you are not in a hurry you can pick one up for cheaper in marketplace or classifieds.

AMP has also a Moto X-Tender. Again I don't like their new design, for the same reason as above. The old one is cool and I will trade my OEM one for it once I find a used one for sale. Unfortunately this one is already discontinued.

    Another cool product... http://www.readyramp.com/

does ready ramp fold up into the bed so you can shut the tailgate like the OEM bed extenders?

Since there is no pivot mount on the bed frame, you can just flop it over into the bed.

Its the tonneau cover mount I am worried about . Is low profile design so it's really into the bed.

I've got the Access Vanish cover (very low profile) and the oem 2012 extender. No issues whatsoever.

i have the same tonneau cover as you. i use this extender. it folds into the tailgate, comes off very easy w two pins if you want to remove it completely. very well made, stainless hardware ect, not too expensive. using it does not require manipulating the tonneau cover either.
