    Howdy ya'll,
New to the forum, first time posting...I got this 2008 silver tacoma a few years ago which I love, and i was just gearing up to start buying parts to outfit it as a proper 4x4 vehicle when 2022 Ice-pocalypse happened, so unfortunately my first post has to be about replacing this tailgate.

The neighbor whose tree fell on my truck should be able to cover the damage with their homeowners insurance, so I'm not worried about the $ so much as I am sourcing the parts...I don't see a lot of these vehicles on the road these days, how hard is it going to be to replace this tailgate and where should I start looking? Would a dealership have parts for a model going this far back?

Go looking through and calling around to junkyards. Toyota would still have one because it is the same tailgate up through the 2015. Not saying you should but they are extremely easy to steal:thumbsup:

I just got one from Craigslist. I had to search for a month, but it was cheap and the same color.

I thought the same thing apparently Tailgates and cats are hot item for Tacomas. The one I bought was removed for a work shell. Nice guy

I have an almost identical dent on my 07. My daughter and her husband borrowed my truck and trailer to move some furniture. They didn't think about backing the trailer with the tailgate down. Bad idea when the trailer jack hits the tailgate.

This was about 7 years ago. I spent a lot of time and had some body shops looking for me too. I was hoping to find a white one and just replace it without having to paint. I wasn't even able to find one in another color at a price I'd pay. It's a now a 15 year old truck and I don't even notice it. Give it a year and you won't either.
