So my Tailgate Latch Broke and Tonneau Cover is closed. So no way into the bed or anyway to get the tailgate cover off to fix the lock.

Looking for ideas on getting it open without having to break something.
    It's the factory cover.
I've been trying various objects for the last hour trying to pull the latch on the cover. Nothing's been able to do it yet.

I think what broke the lock was the actuator I used when I did my home made popnlock.
So if I can get it open I'll be removing that and ordering the real think.

Coat hook between top of gate and cover to pull on the wire to open cover. If its that style. Or yoitube? Everything is on youtube lol. How is your handle on the truck? If its broke could you remove and pull on the metal arms or the actuator?

146E11D3-885E-42BA-A442-4E91B1323192.jpg I think you will need something similar to this hook to catch the latch on the tonnaeu cover. You may need to visit your local hardware store or fabricate something similar. A coat hanger probably wont work, too flimsy.

Anything that big around just pulls up on the cover and then it won't unlatch no matter how hard I pull.

    EDIT
Nevermind. I finally found a video, theres still a latch on that front section
    ----------

My cover is aftermarket but I'm pretty sure the factory has a security bolt in the front, if you remove that bolt can you fold it from that end?

Doesn't work. I think that the latch broke off the mechanism inside.

I don't think so there's a latch on the other side. I'm going to go try it right now though.

Does anyone know if I were to bend the plastic cover up on the back is there somewhere I could poke something in to release the tailgate?

I found this picture on a ebay ad. Looks like if you lift up the black plastic, there are holes that you may be able to stick a coar hanger in and catch on to the lock and possibly open it? Long shot but maybe worth a try...

Also, if all else fails, you could drill out the handle where you can see the screw attachment points on the sheetmetal to remove it from the outside, That would definitely require replacing the outer handle though so that would be a last resort.

Would be one of the last resorts since I'm pretty sure the camera and handle are one piece. Probably not cheap to replace.

Maybe you could get the cover off at the cab end by taking the bolt off? May be able to push on the latch release from the front of the truck rather than pulling on it from the back?

Could be a long shot, but can you push the left side cubby in toward the bed from the underside and get your arm up through to unlatch the tonneau?

Interior LEDs, all weather mats, TRD performance CAI, trifold hard tonneau cover, predator pro step, accessory interior/exterior illumination package. Kicker tweeters, Kicker speakers.
I can't think of any other ideas that haven't been posted, but have you considered taking it to the dealership? I'm sure it's covered under warranty, unless you are over 36,000 miles.
