I am looking at the same set right now. Thinking I will fill in the Torx head with epoxy glue, so screws cannot be taken out. I do not see myself taking the tailgate off. I have the hose clamp now. :anonymous:

Buy tamperproof torx bolts, and the correct socket... Then you add security, and can take it off in needed. Ski

The only person I see ever needing to take the tailgate off would be a body shop if I get rear-ended so I will put epoxy glue in mine as well well

Problem is, if I can buy a security Torx bit set (and I have one already), so can a thief. Will he have one on him? Since a security Torx bit can be used on the regular Torx screws, that's the set a thief would carry. But they may not have a dental pick to pick the epoxy out of the screw head.

Ordered the bobbercyle set from Amazon. It was cheaper than buying directly from bobbercyle, $73 vs $64.

I searched this on Amazon and found it for $ 39.95 bobbbercycle though if you want the additional screw for the cable its an additional 14.95.

you can buy the same screw at home depot. for less. just need the proper thread size.

What about the screws that are cut with half the head missing on either side and you need a special tool to remove them?

Keep the keyhole covered. Every couple of months remove for a second just to prevent it locking up and not coming off when needed.

I hate thieves so I put the Tavaski Tailgate Anti-Theft lock on my 2021 Tacoma. So far so good. May not stop them but it may hinder them until I can donate some buckshot to their rear ends.

Been meaning to do this mod. Used parts I had on hand on a 2019 and a 2006.

Are the thieves selling the tailgates? Where? I'd like to know why the police aren't on this. It seems like an easy arrest if someone doesn't have a Taco and they are selling a gate. Just like they should be arresting people selling cats to recyclers if they don't have a paper trail from a wrecking yard.

They sell them on fleabay, Craigslist, etc. If you get lucky, you can buy your stolen one back.

Catalytic converter sales should be outlawed. Plain & simple, seller & buyer should be arrested for grand theft.

When you get it loose, spray motorcycle chain lube into the lock mechanism. It flows well into the lock, then dries, leaving a waterproof layer of protection.

You've got it backward...the cops don't look for them, because they know the DA isn't going to prosecute.

Problem with beating them nearly to death is that the perp has more rights than you, and they know it. And don't you dare bring a firearm into the party.
