Tailgate options for my 2nd Gen Tacoma

I just purchased a new (to me) 2nd gen tacoma access cab and the tailgate has previously been damaged. Ive been looking for a replacement tailgate for a while now, but my wallet still hurts from my recent purchase. Are there any alternative tailgates that I can use that still look presentable? Not a fan of net tailgate.. looks a bit too cheap. If you guys have any advice Ill take it. Thanks.

 

If you think a net looks cheap you probably won’t like my advice of no tailgate and a 2x6

Have you checked local junkyards? Might get lucky!

 

Parks like this are always gonna hurt the wallet. Suggest calling Savage yards see what you might be able to come up with.

 

Appreciate the advice! I was considering going to the salvage yard to look for a traditional tailgate next week. Does anyone know of any vented tailgates like the Stromberg Carlson that fit 2nd gen Tacos?

 

How bad is the dent? I purchased mine with a push-in dent in the middle of it and I was able to remove the inner plastic on the tailgate and push it out. Good as new

 

Its not the worst bent out there. Slit "V" shape on the top of the tailgate, looks like someone dropped something heavy on the top.
