I bought a pop lock to dremel a backup camera in on my first gen. Compared to OEM, they are made of poor plastic

I didn't realize this wasn't the other tailgate lock thread... The part number I think is in the title for that one so I was confused you didn't know it! The part number is different now on the true OEM one and it definitely does not come in a PnL box anymore. The part number for DCSB and ACLB is PK3B6-35JS0 and for DCLB is PK3B6-35JL0.

That wouldn't work on the third gen! You don't replace the entire tailgate lock assembly, just put in an actuator that pushes the lock bar back and forth.

OEM for the win. Plug and play, easy to install and doesnt make a bunch of noise when in use. Installed the OEM kit a few months ago and it is working great.

I put KTJO-4x4's kit on my wife's 2019 and order the OEM for my 2021. Both kits have a Y cable, so there is no wire cutting. Just unplug the connector and plug everything together. I also had some trouble getting the kick panel back in place/

Quicksand with hood protector, color matching decals on tailgate latch, mudflaps, glovebox, and tailgate hitch cover.
Below is the video I made that shows the part numbers as well as installation. I also attached the official instructions from Toyota on how to install it. My installation was slightly different in that instead of connecting it to the truck automatic door unlocking, I obtained the official PopNLock optional switch so I can lock/unlock it when I need to, and not every dang time the doors unlock! That worked for me, but if you constantly need to go in and out of your tailgate, then I could see installing it as toyota suggested, or connecting it to the Passenger side so it only unlocks with all 4 doors. But for me, I loved the manual rocker switch that I got, installed, and connected it to. Hope this helps!

I found my local Toyota dealership online store had a 15% sale on the parts I wanted but parts.toyota.com only had a 10% discount so check both.
