Today I installed my Snailarmor tailgate insert and Sabellco tailgate lock. They play great together. I was able to remove and reinstall the lock easily with the new panel installed, plenty of room. Both appear to be quality products. A shoutout to Vince of Sabellco and Jimmy of Snailarmor. You guys should get together and offer a combo pack, seriously. I still might add a tailgate gap cover, never realized how much of a gap is there. 8B8F16CA-1881-4410-A26C-07B0A5CC0ADD.jpgFF2FF91C-F159-4C36-A6F0-E56C3341CC1B.jpg374A167F-F0E7-445C-962D-8527AFEBA943.jpg

My tailgate lock is a #12 hose clamp. Yes it's a cheapo deterant & if the thief REALLY wants my tailgate they will get it but the quickie thief will just try the usual grab & go once then quit

+1 I soaked mine in fluid film so that at some point I can remove it if need be without getting out the grinder.

If you have the OEM locking tailgate, does that negate needing the tailgate security lock? Im wondering if I need to worry about it, since they cant open my tailgate without unlocking the truck.

that snailarmor looks nice, i like that its aluminum. price is good. might have to pick one up.

Its nice to have, I regularly leave my tailgate down in the summer if my kayak is in the back. So not having to worry about someone walking off with the tailgate at night is nice. (kayak is cable locked to the bed)

I too have the snail armor gate cap. I am picking up a GFC in a month. Thoughts on how to seal the massive gap left at the bottom of the tailgate caused by the snail armor?

To answer your question I guess would be yes and no. I have the OEM tailgate lock but all it would take is a punch and twist to the keyed section from the tailgate handle and bingo the tailgate is open. There’s a link floating around here somewhere where that occurred and the thief was defeated by the Sabellco lock.
