I just sold my '14 TRD OR. Originally to replace it with a new Tundra. Last night I convinced myself to get a new Taco.

One of my biggest concerns is will the tailgate survive a couple dirt bikes on it? My '14 folded after a year of use and I ended up having to replace it.

Pics have shown they're mildly stronger but still weakly designed.

@Mobtown Offroad is selling a tailgate protector and I think he's currently the only one.

    90, 06 & 16 Tacos. Current is '16 M, AC, 4x4, V6, inferno.
    Rack & Rails, de-badged & de-stickered, road radio, light bar, KO2's.
The tailgate on my 2006 Tacoma was very light and eventually broke and had to be replaced. The tailgate on my '16 Tacoma looks and feels sturdier but also more expensive, so I'm not taking any chances. I'd second the metal reinforcement, or what I do when hauling a quad is slip a fitted piece of 1/2" plywood in the box and at 8' long it covers the tailgate. Any weight on the tailgate is dispersed rather than concentrated.
