Now fill the hole with some epoxy, silicone or caulk and slow them down a little more.

Sorry this is my first truck/tacoma, but people actually will steal your tailgate? WTF? I read people stealing spare tires but TAILGATES!!??

So even if the tailgate is locked can they steal it?

Why not lock the tailgate instead?

Sadly, I'm one of the people that mangled the shit out of that screw trying to get it out, thanks to Toyota and all the gooey shit they put in that screw. So now that device is just collecting dust on my shelf. Oh well, ended up installing the oem power lock instead.

If I could do it all over again , I'd dig as much of that gooey shit out of the head of the bolt as I could and have someone hold the tailgate as I unscrewed it, instead of trying to hold it myself.

You may have to drill it out...only way. I did mine by myself but it wasn't easy.

I've thought about drilling it out but right now I'm satisfied with the power lock. Maybe sometime down the road I'll be ambitious enough to do it, time will tell... Glad you're happy with yours! Enjoy!

    These also work well.
Before installing the power lock last year, this was the first line of defense when the truck was new.

Just unhooked the one side and leaned it on my knee. At the time didn't feel like unhooking the camera wire... Oh well

It's a tight fit, I suppose if you have the right tools. None of mine would fit with it still attached.

Wait so how do u install the device then? You'd have to wait until it was installed to tighten it right?

There's already a factory bolt that needs to come out. It's covered in gooey shit and loctite in place. Take the bolt out, pop the device in then secure it with a tamper resistant bolt
