I went back 8 pages of this thread, but figured I'd just ask you. Do you remember what size washer that is? I looks like it works perfect.

thanks.. that makes it easy. if someone really wants a tailgate, they're gonna get it. but like most people said, with these cheap mods maybe they'll move onto the next one. I like the additional washer along with the hose clamp idea.

For the washer mod I looked at the bracket and thought is looked like a solid piece but I assume that because lots of you are doing it that it's not. Is that correct? What tool do I need?

Which bracket are you referring to, the hanger where the bolt fits? That is all separate pieces that come apart once you remove the bolt.

    A torx bit

Using shrink-wrap is very easy, cheap, durable and it looks clean.

Oh lord I just bought one today and it said it would "fit".. not sure I want to cut it up like that, I'd rather take the $20 back and get the hose clamp I think. Any of the other locks work with out molesting it?

I did this, but I didn't hacksaw it. I am going to buy a pop n lock when I get my taxes back though, I like that idea better (although more $$$$$$$$)

    None so far but looking...
Has anyone tried the GateKeeper? I bought Dupli-Color Perfect Match spray paint to paint it the same color as my truck. Looks very good and looks like it's an original part of the truck once it's painted. I think I paid around $21 for it. This is the manufacturers website.
