I killed a tailgate at work once.

We had some cell tower parts that needed to be delivered and the guy that was going to take them up wanted to use a pick up. (Chevy HD) So, I was running the forklift with all the big heavy iron/steel on it and slowly lowered it into the truck with the tailgate down while he guided me. We were both watching the front near the cab to make sure it was far enough forward and not going to hit the window or anything. Lowered it in nice and smooth. So smooth the tailgate never made a sound as it turned into a complete U shape. Absolutely shocked the cables didn't snap.

This is not for those that plan to remove the tailgate on a regular basis......costs a few bucks for the ring and epoxy.

Find a piece of exhaust tubing (or pipe) and cut a ring to fit over the hinge. Tailgate bracket has to be removed (by you) to get it in place. Clean the side screw heads so epoxy will stick. Fill heads with JB weld after installing the ring and tightening the fasteners.

stupid humans. once we all reach a higher state, maybe we'll stop wrinkling sheet metal.

i'm more surprised that people aren't locating their stolen tailgates while searching for the replacement...

    What does this "latch onto"?

i wonder if this _ the one Christian06 makes would be a good combo to have (if possible to install both)

Once the plastic clip is removed, the SaBellCo has a locking mechanism that fits into the area the clip was located. The lock then inserts when the key is turned.

Not sure if another attached mechanism would work with the SaBellCo.

Here's the link with more info:

There website won't let me select the black version in the drop down menu. I can select my shipping preference on the first drop down menu of either the red or black versions, but only the drop down menu of the red version appears to be working on the site. Maybe black's unavailable?

I think so. Kinda weird, but down below there is a link for the black one (different part number) and it shows back ordered 2 weeks.

Mines only $53.50 with all options, and you can even remove your tailgate if needed.

Emboss the word “Jeep” in it. No one will touch it again. And so many people will be waving at it that thieves will run away.

    @christian06

It's for anyone who needs it.

Didn't mean to target you being unfamiliar with the area.

I'll try and remember to mention that in future posts...not just with you but in the same type scenario.

    What's the expression...?

    Cry once?

For me, you can't put a price on putting my mind at ease--like when I bought my Talon CAT plate.

I agree. That's the point I was making to the gent balking at the $110 theft deterrent. That's why I quoted him.

You said you locked it but you didn’t. Next time lock it with your actual key.
Move out from that bad neighborhood or just don’t have nice things, like 2022 Tacoma.

That's a stupid statement. People live in 'nice neighborhoods' and still get jacked.
