TK holdings makes much more than airbags. do you know all the other components they make in your vehicle? Do you trust everything the media publishes?

We have one death attributed to the problem here in Central Florida. FHP was very puzzled about the wounds to a woman's neck in a wreck which killed her. Now it seems her vehicle was one of the recalled vehicles and the family will be suing for a ton of money. FHP finally called the death accidental while the Sheriff maintained it was accidental all the time. FHP says it was one of the strangest cases they every handled.

Went to visit friends and family for Thanksgiving and I talked to a few guys that I used to work with for Takata. Some Airbag inflators that are/were bad are from 2005 when the Lagrange, Ga. Plant was still operating but all serial numbers were tied to Monclova Mexico for production. Just passing along the info.

It was probably a case of Takata skimping on proper training for the new workers in Mexico. I've noticed when companies move plants to Mexico, they figure they can cut the training as much as they've cut wages.

Are you talking about all the Takata bags that have been recalled across all manufacturers ?

I would say most of them, we had 8 assembly lines in Georgia that made airbag inflators for every make with the exception of Mercedes. All of the equipment that was in the Georgia facility moved to Monclova after the plant closed.

Most of what I was told after I left was the quality standards were not monitored. Seems when there was a need for cutting cost it was the quality department since it was a small group and hindered production numbers. We sold the inflators from anywhere between $35 to $70 a piece and to purchase one from the dealer was anywhere between $1000 to $1500 a piece. Producing parts at 360 per hour 24/7 with our profits being anywhere between $.35 to $1.00 it was a numbers game to production.
