    Tested: 2023 Toyota Highlander 2.4T Makes Some Trade-Offs (caranddriver.com)

In the Highlander the new 2.4T is actually a half second slower to 60 even with the significant bump in torque over the 3.5, expecting the Tacoma will probably be similar.

Did he buy the Pro new? If not maybe the previous owner had it tuned otherwise its in your head. My Cousin's new 23 Pro is extremely nice and could be a lot better tuned but doesn't hold a candle to my 18 Sport tuned on KDMAX and 33s.

I think the Pro has the 4.30 rear gearing, and the sport has the 3.90? That will give the pro a slight edge in acceleration from a stop, assuming they are both 3.5 automatics, completely stock, and using same fuel.

It’s probably the tires and the slight weight difference . It doesn’t take much . On the other hand we are talking about a truck here lol. Why is everyone so focused on more power ? I mean I guess everyone has there own opinions but to me 3 rd Gen is totally fine . I honestly wouldn’t want to be driving to fast in a high heavy truck anyways . A nice BMW M3 yes absolutely, a hot sport bike yes . A Tacoma no.All I care about is Resale ( Tacoma = Awesome ) Looks ( Best looking Midsize ) longevity ( compared to other brands the Best ) maintenance cost ( still the best ) Gas mileage ( it’s a truck ) Hopefully the new Gen will be ok in the reliability area .The power and toys ( that always break eventually) part I could care less about as long as it does what it is supposed to.

    ^^This.

OP didn't mention drivetrain: auto or manual.

So, the assumption is auto (AT).

I have AT/Sport/Short bed/stock wheels & tires and OTT V9, Mild Drive/Spicy ECT--my truck comes alive during acceleration!

Yea, I wasn't sure. I was thinking that the pro's and off roads with lockers came with the larger 8.75 rear end were all 4.30 ratio whether it was auto or manual. Learned something new today, thank you for the correction.

Yep, the 2016-2017 SR Manual and the Sport Manuals also come with the 8.75 Rear, but obviously no locker.
