    Hello guys and gals,

    It's taken a week for me to post this out of total frustration and pure sadness, but my truck was stolen from me Monday morning at 3am. There have been major theft rings in Quebec and Ontario with Lexus, Toyota, and Honda vehicles for the last few years. I have been beyond paranoid about theft since I purchased the truck in 2020 brand new, and even bought a faraday pouch to place my keys in. Here are some picture of it;

    TACOMA1.jpg TACOMA2.jpg TACOMA3.jpg

    When I walked out that morning to see my truck missing from my driveway, I immediately pulled up the footage from my 4k cameras. It took them 45 minutes to steal my truck. They began to try and boost my key fob signal which obviously didn't work. They pulled out crowbars and bolt cutters and proceeded to hack at my door for 10 minutes. The thieves entered from the rear door to not trigger the alarm, and proceeded to re program the key. I did not know that the rear doors were not connected to the alarm which is ridiculous. I am infuriated thinking that these assholes were 20ft from my daughters window especially for that period of time.

    I am posting this in hopes to help some of you deter potential theft of your trucks. I have been informed by my insurance that tracking devices are not the best solution for stopping these low life shit bags. By the time you realize your truck is gone, the have parked it in a container where the signal can not be properly transmitted. The best method of deterring them is an aftermarket alarm which will sound if the vehicle is touched, along with devices such as steering wheel locks, and foot pedal locks for manuals. (Bullock)

    My truck was moderately modified with Enkei RPT1's, Falcon Tereflex Suspension, OEM LED headlights, (which I installed the week before) along with all of the Meso goodies and other reputable manufacturers products. I would like to give a huge shoutout to these vendors, as they have gone over and above to help source my receipts to try and recuperate some of my costs;

    -Hondo Garage
    -FBC Harness Solutions
    -Meso Customs
    -EssKCustoms
    -Garfab

    I am hoping this thread will help give you the incentive to protect your property better. Toyota makes awesome trucks, hence the reputation, but lack the proper security to stop those who prey on them. I would speculate based on the police and insurance that my vehicle will likely never be found, but that won't stop me from buying another Tacoma. I will just go that extra mile next time around to protect myself.

    Cheers,

    Jeff

    Ultra suck. Very sorry to hear amigo.
    I noticed your system looks like mine, the R stuff. Proximity warnings are not great on this system and for this reason i have been contemplating upgrading to something a little more robust/custom.

    Geez, to think i use to leave my tundra parked on the side of main drag in la tuque for a week at a time when snowmobiling in quebec. Nothing was ever taken. Seemed if you had a gm truck, they often got ripped off.

    Very sorry to hear about this. Very little incentive in this country to lead a clean life once you have a record. If you as a citizen without a record try and protect your property, you risk losing all you have worked so hard for. Interesting about the rear doors not triggering the alarm. I wish it wan't the case, but chances are your truck has headed for an overseas destination.:mad: I guess I'll have to get my Club lock out again.

    I’m sorry to hear Jeff, that’s awful man.
    A plague of pustulant boils on all their wretched asses.
    I’m just curious, do have any light outside your home at night? Porch light, garage light? I always hope enough light will be a deterrent for cockroaches like these.

    A kill switch is high on my to-do list,
    something else to consider.

    Jeff, Let be real about this, it took them 45 minutes to break into your truck. how much more time do you want toyota to build into the anti theft system?

    The back door not triggering the alarm is a little surprising since it should be based on a voltage drop trigger tied to the doors UNLESS you have your doors switched to not turn on the lights when you open them? That might be on you

    I'm highly considering a fuel relay switch that intterurpts power to the pump. Or something of the sorts as shown on ChrisFix videos .
    If you get another vehicle or Taco I would recommend checking out these videos if you haven't already.

    Sorry to hear especially in these times. Just curious if you had motion notifications setup on your camera system? It doesn’t always work as intended with too many false notifications and then gets turned off.

    Fuck man that sucks. My truck was broken into recently and I didn’t think it would affect me much (I’m not materialistic very much and usually keep a level head on my shoulders) but I felt completely violated and upset. Just knowing some fuck head was rummaging through my shit touching all my personal belongings. It sucked. They found a guy with some of my stolen property just a week ago or so, which is insanely lucky, they’re throwing the book at him, which brought me so much happiness. Hopefully something can come of this and they catch some people. Sorry op.
