Update. Unfortunately my truck was never found, and the local police closed the case. I finally accepted the insurance payout last week. All in all I've lost about 10k in mods and will have a nice $600 insurance premium hike annually. The good news is I placed and order on a 2023 Solar Octane TRD PRO today. I'm hesitant about the color, but I feel like it would be a shame to order a PRO in a generic color. I doubt I will see it till 2023 but it's at least something to look forward to. Till then I will be sharing a vehicle with my wife.

I'm curious why the insurance didn't reimburse you for the mods?

Insurance, at least where I am from, only covers what is on the original contract. Hence me ordering a pro this time around. I will likely never modify a vehicle again after this whole experience.

    Wow, that sucks.

I need to look at my insurance contract and call my agent on Monday to get some kind of confirmation.

    Side note
: why can't we sit with an agent and go through a checklist of what is available, with costs, and explain all of the possible gotchas? Most of my issues with insurance is caused by simple ignorance because no one told me and I don't know the right questions to ask!

I asked how to go about covering my modifications in the future, and I was told that there is only one way, and a very expensive one. They will send you to have the car evaluated and depending on the mods, either refuse you insurance, or just give you a ridiculous premium which would ultimately make it not worth while.

Labor camps for criminals, it would keep them busy and provide a robust work force for domestic manufacturing.

My area of Toronto has become the wild west for truck thefts. One of our Tacoma’s had its door handle ripped apart in the middle of the night. The fob in a tin can worked, but these reprobates assumed they could hot wire the truck. They used a pick to unlock the steering wheel lock, and didn’t steal any of the valuables in the cabin. We assume they were startled by a bystander, and left.
Since then, we devised a new security system. A rusted 2008 chevy impala, alive on a hope and a prayer, has become our nightly gate. We park it behind the trucks. So far…knock on wood…

Azzwipes stole my neighbors car out of his driveway 2 nights ago. Attempted to steal another but ended up messing it up so bad it had to be towed, and wrecked another attempting to get into it. The didn't touch my Tacoma or the wife's Subaru. Luckily someone has pictures on their ring-cam ...

I have an airtag hidden somewhere deep in the guts of all my vehicles where it will not be found or heard. $25 LoJack.

What others have said is true. If you have an iphone, it will alert you if an unknown airtag is travelling with you. From real world experience, it seems to take several hours and more than 1 trip in the car for the notification to come up.

I put one of my wifes airtags in my car for a month. I could drive from home to work, work to lunch, lunch to work, and work back to home before i get the notification that someone might be tracking me.

By the time a thief knows they are being tracked you should know where your truck is.
