For the record, I was the asshole in that video who broke the CV. Locked front and rear on a buggy line I had no business being on.

For the record I broke 6 CV's last season. I went to RCV CV's a few months ago on my 97 4Runner. I won't be breaking CV's anymore. lol

I would say try it. From what I have seen gatekeeper is aptly named. If you are going to go off-road plan on the worst.

    It was an RCV.
Personally I'll never buy RCV again. Pain in the ass to work with and tore boots left and right. I'll stick with OE Toyota axles. Pick them up easy for 50-100 bucks from dismantlers and $50 boot kits from Toyota with clamps and grease.

Damn, that's impressive. Where was the failure and what did they say about warranty?

I went RCV because just got sick of replacing CV's every other trip. My rigs dual cased and I'm super easy on the skinny pedal. I was snapping OEM and Napa CV's like twigs in lo/lo.

Snapped the outer cage. They warranty it, but it's not exactly fast. Anything aftermarket I broke just by farting too loud. OE was just as strong with my experience, and that was single case with 4.56 on 33s. I had the black first gen in the video with 3.5" LT and first gen Tundra CV axles with trimmed inner cups and porsche 930 boots on the inner were just as strong as RCV.

I just shake my head over obstacles along the trail. Have hiked and mt biked in from the Tahoe side to Buck Island about three times. Seen a long wheel base F-100? broken down west of Wentwourth Springs, broken driveline. Lots of scrapes over rocks by rigs.
