One word: "TIRES". If you can do only one mod, it would be to replace your OEM GY Wranglers with some good A/T tires. After that then what everyone else said...
    TIRES, TIRES, TIRES!

I think the general consensus is that you can (and for entertainment purposes should) take your stock TRD OR to the Rubicon trail but you most-likely won't be taking your stock truck out of the trail the same way it went in--if at all.

Having run both trails I agree. I ran both with out issues, but another truck in the group broke a t case on Thompson hill.

I intentionally run course birfeilds on my land cruiser, because the are a cheep and easy to replace fuse. Front locker can break a lot of shit.

That was a great trip but a lot of work. Our trucks are long and not very tall. Makes a lot of work and slow going.

Soooo funny! OP I would assume you know nothing about wheeling since you asked such a silly question. Ride with your friends and leave your truck at the trail head. My current and last taco are not comparable at all to how my jeeps worked off road. Rubicon trail is serious business

I would assume Jeep naming their top tier Wrangler model after the Rubicon means it isn't stock Tacoma fodder. But I may be wrong so take your camera.

Nah, not trolling. Just read the first few posts and figured it was a bad idea. I plan on driving down there then stashing the truck somewhere safe and riding the actual trail in my friends jeep. Thanks for the feedback guys!!!

Then there is the Mission Santa Maria trail in Baja California... some call Mission Impossible and has one particularly steep, rocky grade I named 'The Widowmaker' back in 1999 when it tried to punish me!
I took all three of my (mostly) stock Off Road TRD 4WD Tacomas on it... I got some body damage or rear bumper damage on each of the trucks.

Haha. I live right by it and yes, you'll trash your truck 100%. I've only been on parts of it with my ktm. Not my type of thing. There's way more fun things to do and places to see.

Please only keep a small amount of fuel in your tank and oil in your engine when you do this. Fuel and oil spills in the forest are really bad for streams and fish when rains wash it out of the dirt after you rip your gas tank and oil pan out.
