I've logged about 430,000 miles on Tacos for my work, but that's been some time ago. Been in a Tundra since 2016. Hoping y'all can help me narrow my search for a possible Taco purchase! basically what I need to know is, how new is too new for my taste.

I don't like a lot of tech stuff. Any vehicle with TSS is too new for me. In Tundras, the last year I could consider is 2017. After that you get TSS whether you want it or not.

What year did it show up in Tacomas?

Pics of my old work trucks just for fun. :D

I began my Tacoma search with a similar anti-tech, all manual, etc. approach. Ironically I ended up with a truck at the opposite end of the spectrum and absolutely love it. 'The more fancy stuff you have the more there is to fix'. Yes, but most of it will last the life of the truck and you'll enjoy it the whole time. If something does break just fix it. It's a machine and things break, a few doo dads don't change that so don't overthink it. I should add that my '17 doesn't have TSS but there are worse features than something that keeps you and others alive. Seat belts were a frivolous feature at one point too.

I'm telling you to go look at one and don't be afraid to like it. Or maybe I answered your question - buy a '17 with no features. Your call dude.

Thanks @trdo-r ! So 2017 was the last pre-TSS year then?

I have a pool guy truck.

    TSS is completely unobtrusive.
