    If you are in actual dunes, 4lo, your auto trans temps will thank you, cruising on a flat beach of sand 4hi is fine

    Im hoping to first time sand it also this summer and take the kids down to a sand trail in Charleston, RI. In RI you have to pinky swear to the State Park permit peeps that you have many things listed by everyone above but a few other things OP might consider having on board. ((a) shovel (heavy-duty or military entrenching tool); (b) tow rope or chain (15 feet, load strength of 1,800 lbs., chain size 5/16"); (c) jack and support stand (minimum 18" x 18" x 5/8", plywood); (d) street legal tires (4-ply tread, 2-ply sidewalls) - snow or mud tires are not recommended; (e) spare tire; (f) low-pressure tire gauge (0-20 lbs.); (g) first aid kit; (h) fire extinguisher; (i) appropriate emergency signal devices and/or two way radio; and (j) flashlight",
