Has anyone done it and seen any performance change? I popped the cat on my old ranger and got some more push in first gear.

IDGAF about emissions or what people hear. I'm just trying to squeeze out some more power without having to upgrade to the 4 liter and sacrifice the mpg.

(Before you degenerates say it, no i'm not buying a prius, leaf, etc.) I commute and economy matters when im not using my taco for truck stuff.

Don't need "change your driving style" either. Just actual advice from people who have tried this or something similar.

No lift kit, 255/75R17's, bed hard cover.

I did in my 1st gen Tacoma. LOUD as piss without the muffler. Too ricey, sounds like a Honda Civic only even slower and didn't get any extra hp. Only luck i ever had with extra HP by removing cat was on my 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX and thats because it was turbo. If you like your truck and wanna keep/modify it, especially with bigger tires, just put bigger gears in it. Thats what all the guys with yota's did back in the day with the 22r motor, they installed like 4.88s or 5.29s. Its kinda expensive but worth it imo.
