For what it's worth, right at 1000 miles on my 2016 DCSB 2 WD TSS... EXACT SAME MPG on first three tank fulls. Barely 16 mpg!!!! I'm 54 so it ain't like I'm hot roddin' it. Combination of city and highway. Pitiful! EPA should take a look at Toyota's exaggerated window sticker mpg claims, and they should have to pay every owner for the calculated losses. And before you say it can't be done, hear this- when we bought my wife's 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai fudged the MPG ratings. Now, about once a year we get a fuel cost credit loaded onto a debit card that they mail to us for as long as we own the car. The kicker- Hyundai's mpg embellishment was less than what I'm seeing on my Tacoma! I'm 5 mpg from Toyota's estimated average.

This is my first ever Toyota truck. I got sucked into the whole "#1 in quality and service" B.S. YOU KNOW WHAT I GOT? A truck that's been in the shop three times for all manner of B.S.- loose leaf spring u-bolt nuts, no grease in my drive shaft zerks, a transmission that's about as smooth as a dump truck and piss poor gas mileage. Talk about drinking the kool aide... I did. Should have bought a GMC. Of course, if I wait a little while, that's what Toyota will become... The GMC of Japan.:mad:

I just got 23.0 mpg on a 150-mile drive from Southern CO to Denver, CO. It's a 1500-ft elevation drop which is almost negligible over that distance. Plenty of steep climbs and descents. This is in a TRD OR 4x4.

Do you do a lot of short trips? When I drive around the neighborhood (<4-5 miles) I get really poor mileage usually... Maybe 13-15mpg. Although if I drive over 5-10 miles I can usually get 19-20+mpg, even in Denver. I assume the engine has to warm up.

My numbers are almost spot on with sticker.

I get an average of 19-25 depending on how I'm driving.. The "average MPG" reader on your dash is super sensitive, so if you're doing short city drives, that could be it. Mine will go from 13 in the city to 25 on the hwy...

    Just my 2 cents!

If you want hard numbers on multiple owners Tacomas, look at Fuelly. Check my sig and you'll see every single fill up I've done since I started it along with many other owners and a good average mileage graph.

I've been getting around 17-18 lately but with larger more aggressive tires than stock. I used to get 18-19 before the tire change. 18-19 city and about 16-17 highway over 70MPH. 20+ at 55.

Mine stayed low...maybe 17 and now after 9 months (8,200 miles) I get 19 city and 21 highway with a led foot and a/c going.

I do a lot of city and it wasn't until after I did my first long freeway trip (120 miles at a steady pace) that I started to see higher daily averages back in city driving conditions.

My first gen 4 banger stick only got 17...and I just came from a prius, so I wasn't expecting much to begin with.

Hopefully you'll see some improvements...it took me a few thousand miles. Weird...but I'm in an acceptable range (for me) now.

I have 2 inch lift on DCSB 4x4 sport. 6300 miles and the worst tank on mixed driving was 20.9. Most are between 22 and 24.

    Nice truck.
I had to laugh when I read your post because you say you're not "hot rod'n it" but I see you on a kick ass chopper and Super Sport stickers on the bed of the truck. I bet you put your foot into more often than you think.
There are a lot of factors when it comes to gas mileage and after all it's a truck not a Prius.
I wish I got 16 miles per gallon and this is my 6th Toyota truck and I've always been happy with the mpg.

EPA estimates are at speeds of 45 mph 1/2 the time and 55 MPH the other half. All cars have the disclaimer, that they are estimates only and will vary.

Fulley lists 288 2016 Tacomas with over 4000 fuel ups and the average is 18.9 for the V6

Come on man! Those aren't Super Sport stickers; those are Factory TSS decals. No idea what they actually stand for but I'm betting it ain't Super Sport...

According to Fuelly the current Tacomas get better gas mileage than the previous years in the V6 but the earlier trucks had bigger engines.

I've got 2.5 tanks of gas in my DCLB and I'm seeing 16.5mpg- mixed driving, up and over some passes, straight highway runs.. The highway speed limit is 80mph, and my tranny has to drop to 5th to run that speed even on mostly level ground.

I hope it improves a bit.

Those tires are probably costing you at least 1mpg. Those are not "stock" from Toyota, I'm guessing the TSS thing is a gulf-states only package that would not conform to the EPA estimates. I suspect those non-stock fender flares are also increasing drag.

Short trips will kill your mpgs.

Get the transmission TSB. It's not likely to improve your mileage, but it will improve your shifting.

In normal mixed driving, I get 19.5. My 1st gen got 17.5 (a little less after I went to BFG's). If you look at my Fuelly data you will see wild fluctuations based on the type of driving. Off-road really kills it.

All that said, it doesn't help you. Sorry. I hope you find a way to make it better or get something you enjoy.

Yes they are stock from Toyota, listed on sticker as part of TSS package. 17" Toyota factory wheels and tires, towing package, matching TSS floor mats, blah, blah blah...

I think it's a Gulf-States only package. Basically some sort of port-installed appearance package that is only available in the Gulf-States zone (or whatever it is called).
