My choice was AC. Needed the extra bed space because I'm always hauling things to my cabin, including building materials. To haul even longer things, I bought a bed extender that slides into the receiver hitch. Didn't want the DC Long bed because it's just to long for my tastes and would take valuable garage space. After a year, I still have yet had to carry more than one passenger...if I do, they will sit in the jump seats, hopefully for just a short trip.

Cant always take people around but majority of the time im alone. Great size and full size bed. Imo the dclb is too big of a truck so i took the hit on the seats. I have my thoughts whenever i see a dc but i get over it. I love my AC.

I regret it, but I can park in my garage with a 6' box, so when its time to do work I have no problems.

Every man needs a man cave. Something that's his. A place to get away from work, the kids (not emotionally) life in general sometimes. My truck becomes my man cave most times. A place I can go and just get away. Play music, enjoy the outdoors and the love of my Tacoma. If you already have your needs met with other vehicles. Let this one ( if you choose to buy it) to be yours that no one can touch. If it's yours. An ext cab is perfect for tools, hiking/camping gear or everyday essentials that you need for the family. I personally like the ext cab because I have a 1st gen. If it's yours and saves you a bit of cash then I say do it!

Agree, already have a Crew Cab Frontier, Pathfinder and Camry. That's 17 people that can be transported in those 3 cars. I could afford the Access Cab and many others can as well but still go with the DC.

Haven't really used the back seats. The only time I've had to use it was in a short trip. It's mostly just storage space. Having the AC ive been able to help my inlaws reduce trips when doing yard work. It's also really nice when camping were able to not really worry about puzzling things together we can just throw it in.

I like my Acess cab and would buy it again. The rear seats are fine for short trips for the suckers too cheep to drive them selves. Go check the actual leg room between the seats on both trucks. The double cab has bigger seats but the leg room isnt much different. I like the 6 foot bed and have no desire for the short bed. The 5 foot bed is not a truck bed its a wheelbarrow. The only problem with the access cab is loading groceries in a crowded parking lot with cars parked on both sides. But for me parking far out solves this problem for the most part. But it is an issue when jamed between parked cars.

Lift? Yea I got one of those
I find the bed of my truck more useful for things... that and I refuse to carry no more than 1 passenger.

I think AC looks better. I would've been happy with a manual SR with utility pkg, but my wife talked me into a DC. Ended up with an off road so I could get a DC manual.
It's only been 2 months, but I haven't needed the back seat even once yet.

I have a 17 AC sport and I like having the extra foot in the bed for hauling bikes. And, it's an awesome excuse not to have to drive people around! The jump seats work well if necessary though and stay out of the way when they are not.

The only thing I don't like is not having a power rear window but it's easy enough to reach to open.

I had reg cab, 2 AC and 1 DCSB and my Dad has DCLB.

Stickshift is fun in reg cab, easy to whip out the rear end, very easy to park and full bed. Reg cab is cheapest to buy. Not as straight on hwy as longer wheelbase and can't put much in reg cab.

You be surprised who can fit in the backseat of the AC but you also have a extra front seat, again full bed. I hate the sucide door when parked next to someone, Imagine this. You step out of front door, open backdoor, now you are trapped or how you put grocery in backseat if parked next to a car? Then you reach in backseat and hit your head on the bracket that the rear door latches to. Hurts like a mofo.

IMO the 4 cylinder is fine on reg cab 2wd 5 spd. But the AC cab 4x4 is too heavy for that little motor. 3,900 lb with 130 whp. That's why I traded it in for a V6.

I was concerned with the 5 ft bed because sometimes my 6ft bed wasn't big enough but we are only talking about 1 foot here... I got by just fine, just use more rope. The cab is closer to rear wheels and it's more weight on rear tires, better wet traction in my SB than LB, no need to throw sand bags to weight down rear tires in snow in SB. The DC is noticably more top heavy than my AC. I like the storage behind backseat in DC.

My Dad had his 05 DCLB for 11 years, it worked great for him. DC for family and a full bed for stuff. It can be hard to park in tight places but it doesn't feel that big on the road.

The DCSB 4x4 is my favorite, very utilitarian/useful, holds 5 people, easy to drive, the short bed still hold a lot of stuff. I believe it's the perfect road trip/ daily driver vehicle. It's the jack of all trades. You don't need the other cars except maybe a fun weekend car.

Every person needs a different truck based on needs and wants. What works great for me may not work good for the next guy. But maybe there's a reason the DCSB is the most popular choice.

    Hope this helps.

I don't mind my family or good friends riding with me. We carpool when going to events.

AC looks best, nobody wants to ride on jump seats so no dirty paws messing up your truck. Gotta have a 6ft bed, can carry most stuff with ease. Lighter than DC, so can haul a little more. Very practical, and can convert to utility by removing rear seats if so desired. I like the AC doors, very convenient to grab/dump stuff in back without having to walk around another door.
    AC FTW!

My Gen 2 was an access cab. Total embarrassment whenever you actually needed it. Try opening and letting passengers in or out with the suicide back doors in today's micro-parking spots that would give a Fiat 500 door dings. My Gen 3 DCLB solved that problem. Additional storage space of full back seat and normal doors is nice. And it still fits in my garage.

I bought an access cab TRD OR. My reasons were simple - my wife has a civic touring loaded with leather etc. Family trips go in the civic. My last truck was a Ram 2500 cummins and the rear seat had people in it exactly twice. So it tended to collect garbage and crap. I bought it when running my own business and needed secure storage for tools so I wasn't loading and unloading the truck constantly.

My daughter is 2 1/2. It will be a while before her and I are doing solo trips together so the access cab still works and as she gets older she can ride the jump seats. By the time she needs more room or we need to take the truck for family events I may be ready to upgrade anyway. At that point I can determine if I need a double cab.

I am not a taxi. I don't carry people all over. They can afford their own vehicles and gas if we need to go somewhere as a group. So why buy a truck to carry a bunch of people who won't be in it much? Now if I was a young kid or had a larger family and needed to haul a bunch of people regularly my decision may change.

Resale? Am I buying a vehicle for me or the next guy? This is something I don't get. Maybe those who trade every few years care more than I do but it is my truck until I decide it is time to find another.

AC all the way for myself. I go camping a lot and I tend to go on a lot of road trips and being able to sleep on the platform I built out in my AC is friggin clutch I can't even begin to express how much I appreciate it. Also I go skiing 100+ days a winter and being able to just toss my 190cm skis in is huge.
I haven't had to carry many passengers being that I have an AC and people don't really want to hop in the back that bad which is a blessing. Also I really wanted the MT 4.0 Offroad so it was my only option haha. AC for the win. And it looks dope too

IMO, I would liked a DCMB, a double cab medium bed.

    A 5 1/2 ft bed

It's funny really, the SB is too short and the DCLB is too long.

The rear door on AC should open more than 90 degrees, and the backseat needs 2 or 3 more inches.

Either one would of worked better for me.
