No. She didn't choose anything. She didn't want me to get the truck at all (especially when she found out it was a MT). I had a full size truck in perfect condition. She suggested a DC because we have kids.

My vote double cab. Its nice to have that extra room when you need it. If you get an access cab and need the double cab you will kick yourself for not getting the DC.

I had the dcsb originally and the short bed was useless. The double cab isnt really even that big either. If you fit 4 grown men in a dcsb it's still tight and people in the back seat are still hitting their knees agains the front seat and rubbing shoulders. I wouldn't exactly call it spacious. Access cab made more sense for the shorter wheel base and long bed. The back seats fold flat for if you need interior storage. I have a stall mat I cut to fit in the back seat when it's flat for my dogs and gear. Personally I think the access cab looks better as well. A little more sporty looking than the DCSB. IMO the dcsb is for high school kids who want to claim they have a truck and want to go to the football games with buddys. (Guilty as charged, I had my dcsb in high school for that very reason) I'm sure everyone has their own reason but when I see a DCSB with a topper or cover I always think "wow, why the fuck didn't you just buy a 4runner"

Depends what you're using it for like everyone else said. I got a DCSB because my main transportation is Music Equipment. I don't off road and I do have the tonneau cover to keep my speaker cabinets mostly dry... (with the help of towels if it's pouring) and my guitars and amp heads stay in the cab in the back seating space. It works for me very well. I ordered an access cab at first but I found a double cab at another dealership for less so I jumped on it.

Get the access cab if you already have people-hauling vehicles. I got the access cab since we own 3 other SUVs in my family. I commute alone and wanted the access cab with a full size bed. Double cabs Look goofy to me.

It doesn't really matter to me. I had a 2009 access cab and sold it, it was a great truck. I wanted 3rd gen. access cab, never really considered a double. Well a used lower priced 2016 double came my way-I bought it. I'm glad I did and although I preferred an access cab, a double has other benefits that I wouldn't have considered unless I owned one. Value comes first for me.

Bingo. Double cabs are fugly and unless you haul humans regularly, not needed in my experience.

I just don't like hauling people around lol. I used to have an Xterra and I was always the one driving people around. im happy with my AC. I think they both look good though. just go DCLB and be done with it!

It's quite simple. If you are 18 or retired and don't have kids or friends, get an access cab. :)

I have a gen 1 accesscab. It has become completely useless now that I have a kid and my wife wants to go on road trips in the truck to mountains. Trading up for a gen 3 DCLB already on order.

Had a 4 door Jetta for 7 years, and used the back seats maybe 3 times. In retrospect, I would have been much happier in a Golf.

I did want a DC for the same reasons many on here buy it, but there were other priorities on my hierarchy of needs (price, manual, reliability). 26K miles and 7 months later, the AC has been all I ever needed.

My SO needed to sit back with our pup one time (car sick). Luckily she's small, and there were no issues sitting on the jump seats even for a long trip. The dog still gets sick, but she's old enough to be under the cap now.

If we have kids, they will be fine for at least 10 years. I thought there would be regret no ponying up $$ for a TRD 6MT DCSB, but as time passes I'm convinced there was no better trim level for me.

We are currently a one vehicle family (girlfriend and dog) with an Access cab. The 6.1' bed was essential because we sleep/camp out of it frequently and wanted a shorter overall length for maneuvering off-road (or grocery store parking lots). Before I got the topper, the dog was in the rear of the cab on a custom platform. Occasionally we would remove the platform to give a ride as hitchhiking and unreliable public transportation is common here. After the topper was installed we left the platform in because gear and groceries fit better in the cab than over the seats (up or down). No kids now or planned so we don't need space for car seats. Almost got a screaming deal on a Tacoma from a guy whose third vehicle couldn't fit seats for the kiddos.

My last vehicle was a spacious 4-door and it was full of people maybe once a year at most. With kids this would be different if you ever get rid of the minivan. Take stock in how you use your vehicle(s) now 95% of the time and go on that. As mentioned, if you go DCSB and put a topper on then might as well go 4-Runner and consider ditching the minivan.

Access Cabs Just look Bad Ass!! They look more balanced with a full sized bed, A Double Cab looks like a Utility Vehicle with the stumpy bed, And I'm not a Taxi Service and don't need to haul you're ass around....

This right here! I got my AC because I didn't want to get thrown in when my friends wanted to go to the bar if I can only fit 1 fully grown person I'm never picked to drive to the bar thus never having to worry about not drinking too much. I hate driving people around id rather be a passenger, also I definitely wanted the long bed over the short. I have never regretted needing a bigger cab but I would have regretted many times not having the longer bed. It's all really what you want out of it. I'm 24 and hate driving my truck before this was a Reg Cab for the same reasons but this time around I needed more room to put my own stuff (groceries, hunting shit etc.)
