Does anyone know why it says on some web sites that the TRD intake is not to be used with the TRD supercharger?

the TRD intake removes the OEM airbox which contains the charcoal filter which is considered emissions equipment. removal of emissions equipment not only voids warranty but is considered illegal. but i'm taking my chances...

Why did you buy a Tacoma? To spend lots of money to MAKE it go fast? Why not spend extra and buy an already very fast car, or an old Lightning, or whatever. Tacoma's are special because they are the best truck overall in the world IMHO. They are not drag racers. This turbo shit is just an evolved version of the 16 year olds that slap a muffler on their GEO Prism. Then they put a K&N filter on there and spray paint with glitter. Then they go "racing" on the strip, Fuck Yeah!
A Tacoma is meant to be a truck. To haul family and friends, and large items in the bed. To save on gas mileage compared to V8's. To be dependable down the road years and years. I am going to take care of mine and retire with the fucker. Treat it like it was made to be, not like your little racing wet dreams in suburbia.

Well I like the added safety of extra light illuminating the road without blinding others, and I like the added safety of being more visible on the road during non-dark hours like daylight running lights, but with fog lamps.
Oh, and I like the extra light with my brights. I use brights to see with more light, right? Why not add the fog lamps? Why, that makes it where I can see even more! Amazing!
    Any more questions?

DTRL increase visibility during the day, fogs can be turned on as needed, and it has been proven that fogs with brights are not as good an idea as one would think.

Anyway, lets try to stay on topic and continue the thread in a positive manner. If you want to state your negative opinion regarding power adding modifications, please do so in another thread.

"Talk me into or out of a SUPERCHARGER!"

I was trying to talk you out of it. That's what you asked. If you wanted just positive feedback, you should've specified.

The purpose behind stock X-Runner trucks is to have a sporty look with a little pep/good handling while retaining the functionality of a light duty pickup.

Now granted that is the X-Runner BUT its still a tacoma platform.

Whats the point of a lightning? Whats the point of a El Camino? Whats the point of a Ram SRT-10?

How about an SRT-4? Its just a grocery getting family friendly neon right?

What about all the diesel trucks? The diesel trucks are built for medium and heavy duty use, yet people still mod the hell out of them for performance oriented reasons.

WRX? Just a good AWD wagon I supose.

The point being: If it has an engine people will mod them and race them; there is nothing wrong with that.

This truck is VERY fun to drive modded and will take down and run with a lot of unsuspecting sport cars/trucks alike.

If you are happy with the truck and its your vehicle of choice, whats wrong with giving her some nuts?

The $ to HP ratio is not the best however its irrelevant if you have the bucks and like the truck.

No matter what there is always someone faster; no matter what the fastest car is the guy with the deepest wallet.

Drive what you like and have fun with it.

    Thank you sir.

I spent a decent amount of time on it here and there; there is still much more to do.

Id like to do some better battery terminals and re-route some of the looming.

see posts #91. you're too late to talk me out of it and my decision was based on the input from those that actually have the TRD SC installed on thier truck, not ideas and opinions of people that get pissed off over a kid that puts an exhaust on his Geo Prism with a dream to someday have something worth modifying.

tell you what, my kids can do whatever they want to modify their cars as long as they do it themselves and learn something from what they do. some of my fondest memories are from spending time in the garage making my vehicles "mine."

I agree, and sorry for the late post. You have a Tacoma so that equals love for you no matter what. Have fun. Must be a grumpy morning.

one instance in which my opinion should not be taken seriously: turbos or superchargers. When you're 17 it really doesnt matter what you're putting a supercharger in, just that you are putting a supercharger in it. And honestly, the less expected a supercharger is in a vehicle, the more awesome. For example, if i were to say i have a supercharger in an 87 civic del sol - absolute badass. If I even had access to one i wouldn't think twice about it. This is awesome though, Supercharged TACO

Sorry I didn't get with you guys but the holidays were hectic as usual add a wedding and 2700 miles of traveling and you can see why I had no free time.

Taking the 2010 to the dealership in an hour with my TRD SC and fit kit for a 2009. I hope it all works out.
