I've got a MGM SR5 DCSB that came with only the Tow Package. I've about decided on some sliders which will mostly be used for steps.... and I think I'll stick some General Grabber AT2s on the truck.

Looking at wheels, I just don't see much that I really like other than some of the Toyota wheels. Also, I don't really want to have to replace the TPMS sensors. I'm thinking about painting my Steel Wheels with some gunmetal grey or black and calling it good saving the rest of the cash for other accessories.

    1. A 265/70 R16 (TRD Offroad Size) tire should fit my steel rim right?
    2. Can anyone convince me I should upgrade the wheels?

16 Tacomas come with steelies? Which ones?

Edit: I think I found them. I got excited and thought they were the black holey ones....they are the ugly 5-spoke ones huh?

I will say simply adding some rubber with better tread does wonders to the overall appeal of any wheel...so no matter what the rim, if you are sitting on Highway Dunlops or something, they are never going to "look quite right"

You will have to swap TPMS though.

If you like simplicity you should check out SCS F5s... I want the Stealth 6 myself.

Tire shops will swap out your sensors, you won't have to 'replace' them. If you replaced them, I think they run ~$60/ea

Steel wheels use a different sensor.

I have an offroad and really like the OEM offroad rims. I'm trying to find a set cheap for my dad, who has a 14 DCSB sport.

Those actually look pretty tough on the new Tacos. I think some better tires are all you need! If the steelies have their own special sensors then there is no sense in getting other steelies...unless they are the black holey ones. Anything else, just looks cheaper and 'Jeep-ish' (Pro Comp, ect.)

I used to hate the look of the tacoma steel wheels, but they have grown on me. I actually like them now, especially with a better set of tires on them. Simplicity.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
You MUST upgrade your wheels. It's TW law. Now crack that wallet open and get busy.

As much as I like the nicer wheels, I do appreciate the idea of simplicity... and function.

You can use the same sensors. You just have to flip them 180 degrees and be careful with the installation.
I have an SR5 and put the gray TRD pro wheels on.

Nice wheels are nice, hence being referred to as nice. You want them.
