If you have to be talked into this then you aren't even noticing on your own how much it sucks so why bother wasting the time at the dealer?

You have time and miles to decide... if you ever have a bottom-out problem b/w now and 3yrs/36k miles, then get it done. If not, they maybe you don't need it. If you're getting close to the end of the warranty and still aren't sure, just get it done anyway. I bet somebody on here would be happy to swap their original springs for your new TSB springs if you don't like the ride.

I agree about the cushy ride when unloaded. The number of time my wife made a comment about the ride of my dodge was unbearable. But the dodge underload was pretty good compared to the Tacoma.

One less leaf in millions of vehicles equates to a significant cost reduction in materials, labor and overall costs all the way down to with 4 leafs were can recieve x number of units, if it was 3 leafs x number of units, less shipments, less warehouse space, lighter so less people to move the same number of assemblies, more assemblies loaded on to the line at a time. In all it was a huge opportunity for profits.
    Once again it back fired.
TPS is an interesting concept in high volume manufacturing.
But it has it's limits and boundaries. When crossed the oh shit flags wave inthe wind for everyone to see.
Looking at the tsb from the TPS perspective it has, we screwed up, written all over it.

For me it was a $2000.00+ upgrade for free. I did not seem to notice much of a difference with the ride, just a firmer feel overall. I have not hauled much in the bed, but I am glad I am ready to do so when needed.

If I wasn't towing or loading the bed down on a regular basis I wouldn't get it done. I liked the stock ride but not when there was 400 pounds of rock in it.

For me, it's one of those things I don't want to be I wish I done that. For alot of us that have newer truck with 2,000 miles, our trucks feel nice, don't sag that bad. But what happens when you hit 36,001 miles and you've hauled some decent loads and now you realized that those springs just aren't cutting it anymore. It's evident that there is a problem, might as well get it fixed!

Dealer installed Leather, Truck Cover USA roll up cover, Pop n Lock, Bilstein 5100's on 4 corners set at 1.75, Rear Spring TSB. USA Spec iPhone adapter, 265/75/16 Mickey Thompson ATZs.
I did it because I could not haul anything without it bottoming out on every speed bump and dip in the road. I carry about 300 lbs of softball team gear in the back almost 24/7.

I cannot tell that the ride changed at all... maybe when it is first done it feels firmer but now after a few thousand miles it has settle down to only about 3/4" higher than stock (if that much) and the ride is just as good as it ever was...

So I am for it... if you are not having problems and dont want the extra hieght then dont mess with it.

I got the 5100s installed at the same time because I didnt want the rear to sit too high... I set them at 1.75 but now wish I had set them at .75...

IMO, Since I bought a new 2010 DC in December and joined this forum a few months ago, I think the people here don't represent the majority of people that purchase Tacomas. Actually those here are probably take better care of their truck and should be commended.

That being said, Toyota and all other manufactures are in the business to make money. Period. They do that by making a product that MOST people want. I did major research including Car & Driver, Motor week, Consumer Reports, and Google for over a year before I pulled the trigger. Each of those reviewing entities gives good marks for ride while empty and not much is written for ride comfort while fully loaded. I think Toyota built the truck to sell and a comfortable ride for 90% of the people that test drive it is what they're after. They know they are going to get reviewed and that's free press. If I were in charge of marketing or advertising at Toyota I would have lobbied for the 3 leaf ride also.

Even I am not sure I'm going to get the TSB done. I like the softer ride since 95% of the time I have no load in the back. For me, I'm looking at leaving the 3 springs alone and adding air suspension bags for those times I need tow or carry a weighty load.

I agree he was rude, but his point may have been that there are about 1000 threads covering this very topic...

This is a true statement. Likely the reason why is that most people don't know the TSB's are available as Toyota would not tell you. You would have to go to the dealer and complain using specific language and scenario before they would come forth and make the fix.
Fortunately, sites like this help to inform the unwary and they can make the determination whether they actually need this and other fixes or whether they like it just the way it is.
    Just my thoughts.

I havent gotten it done yet for the same reason many mentioned here. I'm planning on moving in a year (my Tacoma should still be under warrenty then) and will load it up with as much as I ever will in its lifetime. If it handles fine... great! If it's bumpy, it's time for the TSB.

Just my opinion: If you have TRD package, it's not too big of a deal (you can always Add-A-Leaf later for under $100.) However, if you have base or SR5, it's free new shocks in addition to the springs.

Please correct me if I'm wrong since I'm still in the not-sure camp. I really like the way it handles off road situations now and I think a stiffer suspension might make it worse.
