So OP said it was a 3,400 mile round trip, and lets assume he averaged 10 mpg for the trip: 3400/10 = 340 gallons

    Lets assume gas averaged $3.50 per gallon: 340 x $3.50 = $1,190

Even will completing the calculation with crazy averages, we are still a far stretch from the stated $2k

I drove from the Bay Area to Yellowstone 2 years ago in my Tacoma. Maybe the OP meant the round trip distance was 3400, but didn't include the miles driven while actually there? Yellowstone is enormous. I put hundreds of miles on my truck just in the park itself. That said, his math does seem a little off

Well don't care for the front end of the zr2. The front locker is rad and I'm going icon stage 4 if I do go that route so z71 just for the trim. I did drive around the park a ton. Gas amount was calculated by wife from account but sure it was low teens at best for mpg

Ok, then I definitely vote for the 2015 Tacoma. You will love the Icon stage 4 suspension system! Buy a replacement bumper or a rack that can hold jerry cans or rotopax and screw the lower mileage. You can always trade for a ZR1 if you want to a year from now. Heck, in two years they may up the hp on the diesel option and add the ZR2 suspension system and drivetrain as an option to the ZR1!

    Chevy sucks. Hard.

Tacoma or Tundra, pick your flavor.

    Good luck and post pics

Any life decision that requires more than two seats in a car must be avoided. If you have a wife and a large dog, for instance; the wife can ride in the bed. Would a roof rack work for the child seat? :)
