I ordered my Taco and the dealor has kept pushing the delivery date back.

I know it is on a train and headed to my dealor which is not their problem, but it has been so long other dealorships around have gotten in the model I ordered.

Is it time to play hardball? Ask for incentives? ...I don't want to be a dick and this is very out of character, but I also shouldn't have to feel beholden to a dealer.

Looking for tips (sans just sitting the f*ck at home and posting on TacomaWorld) to deal with the frustration....

Take a shit on the hood of some of their current inventory

 

Being beholden to a dealer is like being beholden to a prostitute.

Man up. Cancel order. Go get your truck at other dealer that has it in stock.

I "ordered" a pro at a dealership in Houston and after getting an automatic and waiting another 6 months I said screw it and got one in Shreveport, LA. Only took a month. I say you tell em laaaaatttttttteeeeerrrrzzzzzz!

 

4/5/18...so I shouldn't be complaining...but that was already waiting a couple weeks for it.

 

Tell them, you'll be getting your truck from another dealer, I bet they will throw in a few extra incentives to reel you back in.

 

I like your answer. ANd it's not pussification, it's do I want Cement or MAgnetic Grey...I ordered MAG and the other dealor has Cement.

The dealer is stuck in the middle as you are. They gave you a date based on the best info they had but stuff happens. Do what crisanalex said. But shop/price the other dealers first to make sure you really can get what you want at a price you are happy with.

I agree with not giving money to a vendor with poor customer service. A new Tacoma isn't cheap. The sales person is risking their fee.

 

if the color doesn't matter, start trying to walk away from the order, and work the other dealer, see who saves you the most money.

 

Cement looks sweet, kick the other dealer to the curb if youre getting the same deal n drive home in a new truck

 

Honestly beyond placing the order the dealer is just as powerless as you. Best they can do is make a dealer trade to get the exact same truck elsewhere and likely make less on this sale and still have another truck to move once your original order arrives.

You ordered the truck. You committed to taking the truck. Now you are impatient and want it now. We get it you are excited and want to drive it now. But trying to squeeze the dealer or back out and go elsewhere will harm your relationship with them. Maybe it doesn’t matter to you. But when you approach end of warrantee or even pass it and then need your dealers help to get Toyota to step up what incentive do they have? A customer who only cares about himself? Be fair. That’s is what you expect from them so you had be better be willing to be fair with them.

 

But it's being delivered late. What if the buyer really needed it on time? How does the buyer not know the dealership, bullshitted the delivery date to try and get the sale?

 

Eh I kinda disagree a lot dealers are in it for their own benefit as much as the customers are. Most dealers don't really care about customer relationships because they don't expect most of their customers to be coming back to buy another vehicle. But if I knew I was dealing with a great dealership that truly cared about their customers I'd agree to this.

 

And that is why I am hesitant. The guy knew his shit, knew I had done my research. Knew I had shopped around and so he was forthcoming. I know he is powerless. But at the end of the day I want to know where patience meets practicality and when I need to cut bait and get my friggin truck.

And that answer may be on Monday. But this is the 3rd week I have heard that.
