How many Toyota dealership in a 50 mile radius from you? 100 miles?

Since you haven't taken possession of the new Taco, search around and see what's out there. You don't have to tell any other dealerships you already have something lined up.

Find out if any other dealerships want to make a deal.

You have the power, use it.

Let us know how it works out.

    Good luck!

    Delivered late... lol

This isn’t an off the shelf item that will ship next day. There are all sorts of issues that can arise. Scheduling of specific models ie. dbl cab or ac. Schedualing of certain frame configurations or specific options. There are really no ways to get a hard answer as to it will build 100% let alone shipping from factory or anything else. If 90% of ordered trucks arrive in 6 weeks then 6 weeks is a good answer to give the customer. If 12 weeks is the number then 12 it is. Some will ALWAYS fall outside of the normal window for one reason or another. If you need a hard set in stone date then pick one from the lot of a dealer. It is the only way to ensure you will get it on the date you specify.

What happens if they get to the end of the run of say a certain cab configuration and yours is next build in queue and they have to jump to the next configuration based on schedualling? What if they got shorted a part by a suppliers and moved on so as not to stop the line? What if the train didn’t show up with the required rail cars for transport?

I can go on for days. Not everything goes to plan. If they had a 99.8% delivery date success for all builds stock or custom ordered someone didn’t get a truck on time.

I had the same problem. I ordered my truck January 13th. Toyota didn't even accept my build until mid March, with a build date of 4/6/18 and I'm not expected to receive it until 4/30. I don't know what's been going on with the factory. They called in February and said I can have a cement or white one, but if I wanted quicksand in a 6MT I would have to just wait and see. It's frustrating. But your truck is built, exactly the way you want it, and it's on the way. If you pulled the plug now and went to another dealer, you likely wouldn't get exactly what you wanted/had built. You could try to talk the price down or get something free that you want since they (the factory, not really the dealer's fault) jerked you around. It's the home stretch, wait it out. Although I say this as I'm ogling the TRD PRO 4Runner my dealer has in stock simply because I don't have truck keys in my hand.

Have you put any money down? I was reading the contracts at Toyota just last night and it says if you put a deposit then back out they can, "at their discretion" keep any or all of the deposit for (their wasted time) basically.

But if you haven't, I'd be shopping around and buy whatever comes up first that fits your needs. You don't owe anything to any dealer, and once they get your money, any dealer is not going to care a bit about you, so don't feel bad about it.

But he just said he has been told Monday for 3 weeks, that's toying with the customer or they have really bad transport company, and I would be concerned with that. When I ordered mine, to be built, they started with a few months and as we got closer they narrowed it down to days, then the week before they stated two possible days.

Oh, Toyota runs a very tight ship to the point other companies have modeled their production after yota. There is a certain name, but I don't recall right now, but basically every thing is ordered to arrive as stuff is just running out.

I have that relationship. It doesn’t always go that way but if that is the case it is a non issue anyway and I wouldn’t be asking the questions the OP is.

If they are being helpful and you do feel they are fair and honest then I would be working with them. The problem in the industry is customers are liars and so are dealerships. So the sales guy has to close now because the promise they are coming back doesn’t mean shit. So they pressure because this is how they pay their bills. They have heard all the lines from customers and seen done deals evaporate. There seems in most cases to be little respect from either side.

I try to play fair. I try to be honest. I do this in hopes of receiving the same. That is how I want the relationship between myself and the dealership and their staff to work. So on that basis if you feel you need to look elsewhere be honest and tell the salesman that. Don’t be demanding anything or trying to squeeze him. Just be honest and maybe it will be what’s required for an upper level manager to find the information you want or maybe they will find a dealer trade for you. They might be simply able to take the same truck from elsewhere and give them yours when it arrives.

I have looked throughout the whole state. The only one is in another colour. i have to figure out how important that is to me. Otherwise it's a state trip away. Which for that I'd be patient. Which is also what is irritating, because I don't want to be seen as though this guy has me by the balls.

I agree on this too. It’s not like the old days before YouTube where working on a vehicle was as hit or miss on doing any sort of technical work. Not that there arnt good dealers, but I fee many reset themselves with their customers the second the vehicle is sold. Keep in mind too, another dealer is likely just as appreciative if he were to cancel and go with their dealer instead. I see a win win here regardless, ESPECIALLY with that cement!

You've waited this long and are paying $37K+ for a truck. Personally, you should get EXACTLY what you want, not figure out how important it is to you. 3 years from now, will the additional 2-6 weeks you had to wait matter if you have the exact truck you want?

I assume by your pronunciation that you are in Canada...
Shouldn’t you be used to waiting longer and paying more for shit by now?

Just In Time (JIT) not really a Toyota thing, a lot of places do it quite well. Dell was one of the benchmarks, not sure if they are anymore.

If you can be patient use this as opportunity to get something for your time. The dealer should be ready offer something for you for the sake of keeping a good relationship. Doesn't need to be ridiculous. A good discount on some accessories or an extended warranty. Your wait is worth something, but unless being without the truck is costing you money out of pocket, you're not really being harmed.

Will waiting cause you hardship ie. you have no vehicle to drive or no truck and you have truck related needs? Those could be considered serious reasons for making other deals now. If you just want it because you are getting impatient I personally would wait and get exactly what you wanted.

Pronunciation and spelling are completely different words with different meanings. Colour and color are pronounced the same but spelled differently.
