A sat in a 2015 Colorado that had 85k miles on it. The interior was in fact "falling apart". It was used by a construction superintendent. I think if you work in a office, the canyon might be good. If you use it for work, look elsewhere.

Test drive, test drive, and test drive. It’s your money and your ride.

Op I’m in the same boat as you. I plan on waiting for the 2020 Taco. It should fix a lot of the gripes I currently have with the Taco like the lack of CarPlay and the power seat. I’m not a fan of buying a first model yr vehicle that bit me pretty good with my current car and I don’t want to do that again.

I drove a Colorado and it was a nice truck you can get extra goodies for less than the Taco but as others said it won’t hold its value like the Taco. I’ve also been told the 3.6L in the Colorado is referred to as a high failure V6 by people at GM so that makes me leery as well.

Who wants to attempt to be neutral on a Toyota enthusiast forum???Gadzooks!!!! All we can do is attempt to be fair.

It is fair to say GM products have a poor reputation for longevity.
It is fair to say Toyota products have a reputation for reliability.

The vast majority of the complaints around here about the Tacoma center around it’s drivability, not it’s reliability. Your original post was focused on reliability.

In general, the electronics you are trying to avoid is what made cars more reliable. It’s an idiotic thought to think it made them less reliable.

When I was a young man, you’d see cars with the hood up left and right, broken down on the highway on a long weekend. These days you hardly see any cars broken down. You hardly see a burned out headlight, and you almost never see body panel rust. Even the Kias and Hyundai’s run mostly forever.

With the advent of electronically managed engines and systems, reliability has increased in multitude. If you disagree, go buy a carbureted car with ignition points, a mechanical fuel pump, a distributor cap, and vacuum-driven emission controls, wipers, and choke, and report back at how great that car is.

Old cars were mostly bullshit. New cars are a lot more reliable due to advances in technology.

The only exception is GM......they still find a way to build a shitty car. Electronics did not make Cadillacs more reliable.

When I first heard of this, I thought it was a dumb idea but it might work for you. Subscribing to a vehicle service, instead of buying or leasing your own vehicle. I'd assume you can switch vehicle subscriptions and drive different vehicles every week, or how ever long that subscription lasts.

Might want to check out the new aluminum Ford also. The body is supposed to be much stronger.
