You’re basing your truck purchase decision on CarPlay and a power seat? Like, for real?

The Colorado can be a great 4x4 truck. Just replace the motor, trans, TC, and give it some 1 tons. It'll be a bitchen POS truck then.

We need people to buy Mexican made cars to promote NAFTA profits in the US. If you want to spend your money on this, that is good for all of us.

OP, I’m on my second Tacoma now (just got it March 1).

Drove a Ford Ranger for 14 years and 206k miles, bought it new. The first 75k were riddled with issues, most of which were fixed under warranty. It went through 3 clutches, numerous front wheel bearings, and new rotors and pads every 35k. Heater controls were always quirky, and it seemed to eat alternators. By the time I traded it, it was totally shot from a frame, body, and interior stand point. The only thing that still seemed solid was the engine.

Bought my 1st Tacoma in 2006. Drove it 72k, and outside of normal basic maintenance, only a set of tires were needed. Still looked great in 2012 when I traded it on something more comfortable. I missed having it within a month of trading it. Yes, it was not the most comfortable, and didn’t have theatre quality sound, or even get the best gas mileage. But everything about it always functioned. Nothing quirky. Ever.

I’ve driven multiple Canyons and full sized Ram pickups as rentals, for several weeks at a time over the last few years. The second or third time I drove a Canyon, I was taking it from Northern Kentucky to Jackson Mississippi to work for a few weeks. Transmission basically locked in second gear, while getting back on I40 just west of Nashville. That Canyon had 6500 miles on it. I’ve never had any issues with full sized Rams, but they’re “known” to start having problems about 50-60k miles.

Got the opportunity for another new Tacoma, and didn’t hesitate. So far, it’s been 100%. It does everything it’s supposed to do. No regrets thus far.

This says alot. My 4Runner had 324K miles on it and everything still worked when I sold it.

the obvious answer is to buy one of each and drive a different truck every day. when they break and you're finally down to one, you'll know you made the right decision.
