We have a Ford transit van at work. The diesel blew with just over 22,000 miles. It took our local dealer 87 days to return the van to us. We had it less than a week when a bolt fell out from under the dash, the AC quit working, and the power steering is straining hard at idle.

I honestly don't see how Ford is still around.

Right. And no one ever plans to move, or get a new job or have children... etc.

Not being a douche when I say this (honestly) but why not test drive each vehicle extensively and formulate your own opinion? Creating forum accounts on Ford, Toyota, GM sites and getting the users (who are already biased, mind you) to turn you away from what they drive just seems counter productive. I could tell you don't buy this truck, the engine is slow and cannot see over the hood, but you may not see this. Go to 2 or 3 different dealerships of each make and test drive on the highway, back roads, etc. Hell, I brought my daughters car seat with me to make sure it would fit and my wife could still sit comfortably.

If you search hard enough, you will find a bad thing about every vehicle. Nothing is perfect. Even Toyota gets a lemon here and there.

OP have you considered waiting until 2021 for the Ford Focus based Courier?

I got both a Tacoma and 4Runner. The 4runners interior is a bit dated but still looks great after 8 years(just traded in my 2011 for a 2019). It’s a bit of a dog but has a proven motor tranny combo. Also has a bad ass rear window that goes down for some nice breezy nights. If you really don’t need a bed get the 4Runner. If I didn’t do a lot of ocean stuff that requires a bed I would have two 4runners hands down. That being said I love my tacoma it’s the official vehicle of Hawaii for a reason. It’s reliable, easy and relatively cheap to maintain and you can park it town(what we call the city) easy. The aftermarket support is just as good for the 4Runner regarding mods. After owning my first 4Runner for 8 years bought for 25k I got 19.5k in trade with 73k miles on the odo. I would do my due diligence and test drive the ranger but at the end of the day to me it looks like a Ford Escape with a bed.

I’m in the Navy and know all about how popular Tacoma’s are in Hawaii. Virginia Beach is probably better for a 4Runner though.

Not buying anything until I get info on the 2020 Bronco. I am kinda worried that there isn’t really any by now. Seems like if you are proud of a product you wouldn’t hide the reveal until the last minute. Just know it probably has a Ranger base so if the Ranger fails...

Honestly that would be my internal debate, Taco or Runner. You really can’t go wrong with either but for me personally I think the 4Runner is the better daily vehicle. More space, keep gear dry and less likely to get stolen unless you throw a cap on your tacoma. Then you should have just bought a 4Runner anyway lol. The TRD Offroad Premium is a beast by the way. I got to have some fun with it around mount hood last year.
