My local Ford Dealer still has the same Ranger sitting there for 4 Months, I laugh every time I drive by and see it still there.

Considering the millions sold they actually had less than people would have you believe and most of the issues were on the trucks not being run hard enough or ones that were modified by their owners for more hp. Also all the epa regulations had a hard impact. Even as I type this I’d be ok with saying those had problems but then again those engines are long gone at least a decade now, so still the modern turbo Ford trucks/cars are not turbo failure prone.

Well you know I am a scholar of sorts.....I’m just not a fan and never have been. It’s not a very nice comment some would say, but my opinion really doesn’t matter anyway. I’m glad your waving in my direction, it’s thoughtful and polite :hattip:

I’d have a hard time buying a Ranger vs a Tacoma honestly speaking, but I do think the Ranger is up to task and will only get better as each year passes.

You are probably right, I've had my 2018 10 months, 10,000 miles and no problems yet but there's a long way to go.

Why are you trying so hard to convince Tacoma owners the Ranger is superior? I checked out the Ranger and it’s impressive but, decided the Tacoma is for me. I like a truck to look and drive like a truck. The Tacoma delivers everything I want in a truck. You need to just enjoy your Ranger and leave us be or, are you trying to convince yourself you didn’t make a mistake trading your Tacoma.

Based on what? Feelings? I’ve owned an ‘05 2nd Gen for many years, now have ‘19. My only complaint so far is the tail gate. Just don’t love the stepped down design with the stamped ‘Tacoma’ vs the old fiat style

No not at all, I just don't expect the two Tacomas I own ('96 and 2018) to both go 413,000 trouble-free miles, would you?

The current gen Tacoma is an improvement over the previous gen Tacoma in most respects, perhaps excepting the engine department...slightly better mpg's but slightly worse low-end torque.

Anyone who truly thinks that an earlier gen Tacoma was of better "quality" didn't spend enough time in those earlier models.

The Ranger seems good on paper...it remains to be seen how well it fares in reality. The ecoboost engine hasn't delivered the real world mpg's that Ford was promising and the truck itself seems very dialed in for pavement driving (at the expense for offroad driving).

Ford could very well have a good consumer base to cater to...or the market could tank and Ford could pull out (like they did before) because of a "lack of consumer interest" which is really code for 'the Ranger can't compete with other midsized trucks.'

I base this solely on TW feedback from all the happy owners here. It’s hard to find a 3rd gen’r who doesn’t go yeah I love this truck...buutttt or I wish Toyota would do this or that, my rear end whines, I couldn’t take all the problems so I traded my Tacoma etc...it’s not the same Toyota.

That happens with almost any product sold as it has to sell to the masses so naturally people would wish for this or that and yet still be happily satisfied with the product.

Again the glass-half-empty attitude. If my previous Taco went 413k, I’d have high hopes for another stellar experience. That’s pretty freakin’ awesome your ‘96 went that long
