The gladiator looks odd and is demanding big boy truck money.

It does, but it's so useful. I spend a lot of time on the beach..I can't think of a better rig.

OP, I’ll put it this way.

Here is Tiger Woods before the Ranger was discontinued:
    DBCE07D8-15ED-4598-B5A2-4B71244A5A4C.jpg

Here is when Ford stopped selling it:
    3102BC8D-0E49-491A-AA71-059BF0A7C6CC.jpg

And here he is when they brought it back this year:

    Buy the Ford.
(If this actually works I swear I need a special badge besides the special helmet I wear on a daily basis)

The few requirements you've cared to share lean way more to comfy than off road prowess.

Ridgeline would be more comfy than any Tacoma, work just fine on light trails, and do HD mulch duty with aplomb. There is a high chance that 50% of all Taco owners would do just fine with a Ridgeline. :D

Just buy it and be sorry. The thing is ugly and you’ll be sorry but we will all get a good laugh at your expense.

    Good luck!

An honest opinion for you OP: I wouldn't personally buy the first model year of a new generation vehicle. There hasn't been any time for consumers to discover the inevitable problems, recalls, etc that it may have. Yes, a similar version has been selling overseas for several years, but this is still a new generation of Ranger being produced and sold for US consumers.

Wait a year or two on the Ranger. Or buy a Tacoma now, it's had almost 4 years to work out the kinks in the current gen.

Ohh ohh ohh I got the winning argument here, I am a ford dealer mechanic, DO NOT BUY THE DAMN RANGER, IT'S UGLY, HAS A HUMP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FLOORBOARDS FOR THE DRIVESHAFT AND ONLY HAS A GODDAMN FUCKING 4 CYLINDER ECOBOOST ENGINE.

Also ford is working on a redesign, I think like the 2nd gen tacomas had. Should be out in two or three years.
