Yeah, well, as I understand it, those frames were made by the Dana Corporation...
    ...in Pueblo, Mexico, IIRC.
And Dana had to pay dearly for it. Dana is now defunct.

Are you saying you believe Toyota has not made damn sure that fiasco never recurs?
Do you think they want a repeat?

As for my Tacoma, I have a new non-Dana made frame.
I call that a plus. New LCAs, new brake lines, among other things...
And the reliability of the rest of the truck doesn't really worry me.
So far as one can foresee such things.

My wife's 2005 Highlander, which I bought for her new in 2005, has had nothing significant in the way of repairs.
Just normal maintenance, and it's approaching 200,000 miles.
Not body on frame, I know, but the reliability of that Highlander has been a revelation to me.

    Still confused?

Being a Ford guy I’d be hard pressed to buy the current Ranger vs the Tacoma but not because of all the bullshit you’d read in this thread. To me the Tacoma is just cooler nothing else... not faster, not more powerful, not better off road, not better at hauling or towing, not more fuel efficient, not more reliable, just cooler. I suspect the forthcoming real new Ranger will step towards the cool zone as it’ll be connected to the new Bronco but whatever we’ll see.

I test drove a ranger before buying my tacoma. Hands down the ranger is better at drive-ability. The drive line is better. Great acceleration. Trans programming is better. But they are not quality vehicles. Uncle is a ford parts manager and i asked him about it and he hummed and hawed about it then spilled the beans that its not going to be a durable vehicles. His dealership already had a few rangers that needed a new engine. his best advice was to not buy this year he said buy later when they have worked out the bugs in the engine and trans.

I agree with 90% of what you said minus the “not better off-road” the Tacoma wipes the floor with the ranger off-road

There’s lots of videos of the Ranger struggling on basic off-road terrains.. one guy gets stuck in a little ditch. Other one on a review where the Colorado and Tacoma make it up with ease the Ranger took multiple runs and hardly made it up. Granted the people running the test were retarded. But the Ranger doesn’t seem to hang with the competition off-road but does excel on road. 99% of videos on the Ranger main thing people say is horrible off-road capability. And I’m not saying it’s terrable off-road but 100% not in the Tacoma caliber

I’d suggest taking a look at Stage 3 Motorsports YouTube video with the Ranger, I personally believe all these trucks will take you about anywhere within reason.

And I agree like I said the Ranger can handle the off-road heck there’s a video of the a Subaru Outback powering threw a mud pit. I’m not disagreeing the Ranger can be off-road but I do not think it’s better than the Tacoma. MPG maybe lots of people saying the Ranger is getting much worst than advertised(which a lot do with the taco as well). drivability I can comment as I haven’t driven a Ranger but lots of people on here complain about the Tacoma on Ranger forums lots complain about the Ranger. My Tacoma personally drives perfect. Power sure I give that to the Ranger and reliability once again I have to give to the Tacoma. All are good vehicles but I compare the Ranger more against a Ridgeline than a Taco or even the twins.
You want a pure off-road enthusiast truck Tacoma. You want a car/truck you can drive down logging roads Ranger all day!

I totally agree! I don’t even have a problem with people selling the tacoma to get a Ranger. Gives someone who actually appreciates the taco a chance to own one. I just hate how people think the grass is greener on the other side come to a “Tacoma enthusiast” site and shit on the Tacoma when most of us actually do love our trucks. I just find it hilarious when you go on the Ranger forum and read all the same things people bitch about Tacoma for then have people saying how shitty the taco is and how much better in every way the Ranger is!

Reading that ranger board would talk me out of buying for sure. What is so funny is all the people who talked about the ranger "taking over." Lol get that shit out of here.

The Ranger is not horrible off road. Most of the videos you see are magazine reviewers with little off road driving experience. Here is a perfect example of how capable the Ranger is off road.

I could care less what truck anyone gets, it's your money, just posting my real world experience with one.

You're in here defending and talking up a vehicle you don't even own, seems kinda weird.

I still can't get over how bland the Ranger looks. Nor how high the butt sits - it looks absurd.

I'm sure it's a fine truck, and I have nothing against it as such, but man, it is not good looking.
