Well...I have had several trucks over the years, from a ranger, ram, Chevy and tacoma. I liked the Chevy, because it didn't ride like a truck. I've owned Tacoma's more than most! The last three have been Tacoma. I'm currently in an 02, 2.7L, 4x4, MT. I will never go back to any other. The reliability of the engine is the main reason. I'm at 318000 mile and she runs strong with regular maintenance. I suspect it'll go another 100,000 easy.

Just something for you to think about!

Nah......the New Ranger is the best truck on the market, of any size, by a long shot. It’s incredible that Ford got everything perfect, right out of the gate. It’s a mid-size miracle. Nothing less.

The Ranger with its EB engine and 10speed is to dangerous for a rear window. If you got in a race and forgot it was open you could be sucked out like a airplane.

    Truth ^

There’s already been a couple fellas sucked right through the Turbo while changing the air filter. All their families found was the truck running and a pink splatter against the garage door that used to be dad.

Ford is keeping this super hush-hush as they race to add warning decals to the air box: “do not open when truck running”

They're not even on paper from a aesthetic standpoint.

This truck looks like a truck an old man would drive. I'm an old man so I know these things.

It looks like some Ranger owners are getting over 530 miles on a tank. Not bad considering it's only 18 gallons. That's pretty impressive if you are careful with the throttle.

530miles driving with a bag over your head would get exhausting! I’d rather drive a Tacoma and not be ashamed.

I wonder if the Ranger will have even sold as many rangers in this year as Toyota sells Tacoma’s in 1 month ! Lol

    I'm sure that's achievable...going 45mph on flat terrain.

Most people are reporting averages of about 18-19 mpg...which is about the same as the Tacoma's average mpg.

Fuelly has the Ranger achieving more MPG's than the Tacoma, but okay....

If you want to get technical (I was talking in generalities), the Ranger gets about 19.9 mpg and the Tacoma gets about 18.8 (which by the way includes mpg results for the MT with the lower gearing).

So yes, the Ranger does get higher mpg's, about 1 mpg higher...the ecoboost engine doesn't offer as much of an efficiency advantage as some people like to believe.

Don't know. Generally speaking, Ford recommends 89 octane or higher to get the full performance out of their ecoboost engines, but I do think 87 octane is permissible.
