And that’s what this thread is about. A healthy debate. I’m glad it’s not ‘killed’ by the mods, as some would have it.

Which whether you like it not (and the past 100k is bologna anyway) most people DON’T keep it (whatever vehicle it is) past or much past 100k. Although a recent study found people are on average keeping their cars longer it’s not 100k miles longer. Guys need to really reach for something else besides the turbos... it’s just simply false that these engines haven’t proven themselves reliable. Hell the 5.0 has actually had more issues and even that is misleading when you factor in how many are on the road. Get over it they make incredible, modern, powerful engines it’s just the truth.

I did hit unfollow lol! But I do enjoy what certain people(yourself included) have to say. I’m just not talking anymore! Minus this 1 LOL! Like I said I personally don’t enjoy the back of the Ranger. I’ve seen some that look good with a lift and tires and some custom work. I prefer my Taco Toy and probably am a Fan Boy even thou this is my first Taco,I love it but my dream Rig is a FJ for pure off-road destruction. Get what makes you happy and drive what makes you happy. I have 0 issues with the drivability of my A/T Taco some do and I hope they trade it in to give someone who actually wants it a chance at it! Honesty all vehicles are pretty good and pretty bad these days LOL! Get what turns ur crank and enjoy it! Ford Chevy Toyota Dodge(lol) just hope to see you out in the bush for a trail ride and a beer!

I bought the Tacoma because of the reliability, Hopeing it will last me 10+ years with minor work and maintenance so I don’t have to buy new vehicles anymore LOL! I plan to get older vehicles for now on. 2010-2014 FJ. 2016 4Runner Pro. 01 Cummins 1500(pure towing). 14 FRS 2JZ swap.

Wow. 49 pages of posts and I figured the guy would have either: A) Decided not to buy the Ranger or B) Buy the Ranger and end the discussion.

    Just a little levity.

As for the posts on the health of Toyota versus Ford or Ford versus Toyota, it appears to be a tale of two businesses heading in different directions.

Ford: "Ford shares plunged Wednesday after the automaker reported second-quarter earnings that were short of expectations and issued a disappointing forecast for the year."

    Link: https://www.cnbc.com/2019/07/24/ford-earnings-q2-2019.html

Toyota: "Toyota Motor Corporation 's earnings were $4.32 per ADR in first-quarter fiscal 2020 (ended Jun 30, 2019), up from $4.08 in the year-ago quarter. Earnings beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $3.89. This Japan-based automaker delivered net income of ¥682.9 billion ($6.2 billion) in the quarter under review, up from ¥657.3 billion ($6 billion) in the year-ago period."

    Link: https://www.nasdaq.com/article/-toyota-motor-tm-q1-earnings-and-revenues-beat-estimates-cm1191081

I have no dog in this fight. I do think Toyota is a better company. But drive what you love ... !

If you think the Rangers ass-end is a tragedy, check out the new Mitsubishi/Ram Triton pickup’s derrière. (Overseas model)

    Goddam! It’s smiling at me!

Diesels and turbos are a match made in heaven. Ford is known to have problems with their ecoboost engines.

My problem with today's trucks is that at 6', you cannot stand next to it, reach over and grab something out of the bed. The Ranger's bed us SO tall, why? For those of us who work with our trucks, not or bro them out for show, it is nice to be able to grab a tool out of the front of the bed from the side. You can do this with the Tacoma, it looks like you need a stool for the danger Ranger and Colorado and all full size. Looks over function, good job Ford

Funny how full size truck guys have to come into a mid size forum.
    Quite complimentary actually.
