You would need one in the south, it snows 1 inch there and everyone is at a stand still.

if you do decide you really want a 4x4, don't bother spending the extra cash for a trd. SR or SR5 are plenty capable if you know how to use a truck off road.

You'll get a few bucks from it because it looks so good and they know that'll enable them to sell it faster. But nowhere near what you paid.

when you gotta drive in to get a moose in 3 feet of snow you want 4wd, but that's just from my own personal experience.

I don't think it snows much in Alabama and I don't believe there are any mountainous areas where you would need the gearing of 4WD to for getting up and down inclines. For muddin, yes I guess it would be necessary. OP also stated the rig is primarily a daily, mall crawler, and hunting truck, 2WD is perfectly fine for that. Also if you look at Tacomas for sale in the deep south, it is a 1:1 ratio of of 2WD trucks vs 4WD trucks being sold. I don't think anywhere else in the country would have that ratio, the regional market speaks for itself.

You have a beautiful truck. You sound a lot like me once every few months lol. Last month for me was the “I should get a Ram”. Here I am today. Still Taco loyal.

It is a paradigm shift. When I was a kid NO ONE had a 4WD truck outside of full time hunters, ranch owners and gov't vehicles.

No one wanted the headache or rougher ride. I know some kids had lifted to the moon Toyo's and Broncos but they just tore them up.

Now it's like no one wants anything other than 4WD and 4 doors even if a Prius makes more sense.

Oh well, I can't talk. I got one too although i wish now that the big property is gone I had a 5 lug again.

side note. Nearly every time I HAD to use 4WD, I got stuck. Luckily I didn't HAVE to have it often.

A 2x4 truck can literally get stuck in a gravel driveway. I can't justify a truck that isn't 4x4 even if you don't go off-road or have snow in the region. Especially if its your emergency vehicle.

My friend got stuck on a hill with leaves in his 2x4 and it took 2 hrs for him to get up the hill. SMH

With a locker or posi? I have said over and over a truck with out posi is worthless as a truck. I don't get why that's not the more popular option any more. Oh....it's not an option.

Are you pleased with the final numbers, will the new truck/4x4 make you happy?

It's true. We can tell don't do it or you don't need it but life's short. Do it if it feels good man. (and doesn't hurt anyone) Somebody will want your old one. It will sell quick.

If you just want to trade to make this quick and painless, well. You already know you're getting raped. Again, if you like that kind of thing. Go for it.

Maybe your friend and you should learn how to drive - Had 4 WD & 2WD with good tires and a little weight in box and never had a problem with either and we live in Canada where it really snows.

My advice: see what the dealer is offering, then price out a winch and a aftermarket rear diff locker and then compare.
