OP, I don't mean to hijack your thread, but those wheels look incredible on that truck. What kind of wheels are you running?

    ^^^ this.

All dealers do is punch in the VIN and it automatically populates the trim level and all the original factory equipment. It then spits out a trade in value.

Then it’s up to the dealer to give you more for any extras that you may have added “out of the goodness of their heart.” But I still have to meet such a dealer.

If you sell privately, buyers will be doing the same on Kelly Blue Book and what not.

    Good luck.

    I second this ^^^

I added a TrueTrac LSD to the rear of my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sahara and I could drive deep down a trail or in the snow before I even had to engage 4WD.

You should do it. Otherwise you’d always wonder what it’s like.

Keep your truck and wait until the redesign. Trading an 18 for a 19 is never a good idea. You may be upside down which makes the new truck a terrible Idea. Even if you own outright, I think you will need $9K + to make the deal. Dealers find it more difficult to see a non stock truck as many buyers don't want a truck that may have been off road or abused. So the dealer knows they have a smaller market for the used truck. I would bring it back to stock and save the parts for a new one.

Had an old toyota PU 4WD Turbo. Took it out to the riverbottom and had to be towed out by a tractor. Sometimes having 4wd gets you in trouble because you think you are invincible in the wild.

Best advice is to drive it in places you would a 2WD, unless you have a buddy with you with a tow strap.

I traded in my 2016 2wd for a 2017 4wd... Payments went up 39 dollars a month. I'm happy everyday with that trade.

But i live a mile and a half from any pavement. Have 3 off road pits/dunes within 5 miles of my house and i off-road multiple times every week... and some of the places i hunt and fish you just can't make it in 2wd... I've been stuck in my 2wd trying... Have yet to get stuck in these places with the 4wd.

I have been stuck with the 4wd too... But i had to really TRY and get it stuck. In mud up to the doors and I'm lifted 3".

I tell most people unless you really go off-road more than a couple times a year, keep your 2wd... But if you enjoy the adventure get yourself a 4wd. I'll personally never own another 2wd truck.

You will get more for the Sport hood on TW than you will get at the dealer for the whole trade in.

If you are even considering trading an Inferno, you are not worthy.

You need to sit down and reflect on your life decisions.

    OME and worth every penny.
He said all his trucks were before, that's why he feels naked w/o it.

Yep, that's how I wound up with mine. River bottom marsh pastures. God that looks familiar. I really don't miss it (all that much) at least I can say "Been there, done that". Kudos to people that want to ranch full time.

Maybe if he was in a 4x2 truck instead of a 2x4 he would have been alright!

Sales folks love buyers like you! You should get a Christmas card from yours. At least once.

You could make swapping something like the grill part of the deal, along with your wheels/tires. Assuming your lift are spacers or jacked up Billies in the front, not worth the effort to move.

This was a trade, not a cash purchase, right?

Dealers aren't in business to give you anything. Other than 'the business'. Whatever they over-allowed you over book value was margin left on the table for what you traded to.

    Let them give you numbers.

Then ask for numbers with a no trade deal. At another dealer. You'll come closer to knowing the real allowance that way, and position you to do a private sale to someone who's keen on the work you've done, for a better deal for both of you.

It's nice looking, and should be an easy sell.

Must be why all those desert boys use pre runners. They haven't talked to you.

And I missed your guidance too, but worse. I got shorted 4 lugnuts.

A desert truck is completely different from a daily. Most of those trucks are trimmed down on weight/gutted and have super chargers/other motors with more HP. That's not even the same conversation.

Secondly, your try at sarcasm is sub-par.

We'll see. Around here, the dealer has been giving ridiculously high trade in values and and i'm friends with the owner of the dealership so he's taking into account the sport hood and tires and level. I'll get to see some numbers today at lunch and decide if i want to take the shaft

they're the dark alloy Sr5 wheels. Thanks for the compliment, i love them. Downside is they are only 7" wide so a 265/75r16 is the max size you can run
