Talk me out of trading in my Taco

Looking to swap out my 2017 TRDOR for a 2020 F-150 XLT 2wd Ecoboost. Any good reasons why I shouldn't do this?

My tacoma has had zero issues in 3 years and 100k miles. My buddies f150 with the 3.5 eco boost has been to the dealer 4 times in the last year for major failures.

 

Hauling random things in the bed, and I probably use 4wd about 3-4 times per year. Never towed anything.

 

Talk yourself out of whatever you want

I'll talk you outta some money, add a twin turbo if you want more power

Tow a trailer if you wanna carry too much crap

Get rid of some excess family members if its too small

 

Do what makes you feel happy and meets your goals. Ford vs. Toyota reliability and value retention would be my biggest concerns. Also, do you need a fullsize?

Sounds like you would benefit from a full size truck. IMO the tacoma is more an off roading truck, or light duty work truck. If you need a full size...tundra? lol

 

Why are you thinking you need to trade? Do you want a new truck? Is the Tacoma been problem after problem?
The best good reason not to trade is, it’s not worth it financially

Can you give the cliff notes on how this turned out.

 

My biggest concern is probably not having 4WD. But looking on youtube there are several options (e.g. traction boards, truck claws) that I could use for those few times a year when I drive into a muddy area deer hunting and get a bit stuck.

 

Microsoft sync in the ford is absolute trash, had it in my last car and it was so faulty. Half the time it wouldn't boot up and I would need to turn the car off and on until it would come on. Constantly would lose bluetooth connection, never autoplayed so I had to manually start playing music. The voice features were garbage and the call connection was poor, people would tell me I sounded like I was underwater. Not sure if they changed this with the newer sync updates but I wouldn't take another ford if I was handed the keys.

 

Dealer is replacing the tranny under warranty and the I'm having to pay for the coolant leak repair out of pocket. The entire situation has me quite depressed. I bought the tacoma so I wouldn't have to worry about a vehicle for 10 years.

 

you wanna go from 4WD to 2WD? if you don't drive through the snow or on trails, bail and get a 2WD anything.

 

Wait not having 4wd in your current tacoma? Or not having 4wd if you got a tundra or fullsize?

 

I currently have 4wd in my tacoma and wouldn't not have it in a fullsize

 

I’d wait till it’s fixed, work on getting longer warranty.

 

Shit sucks, but things happen sometimes. I still think the reliability of Toyota exceeds that of Ford.
