I have a 2013 Sport with the non JBL stereo.
A few months ago it started giving me a white out screen on startup, and lasting a increasing amount of time before it goes back to a black background like it's supposed to be.

The biggest complaint for me is that I loose the use of my backup camera as the screen is white out. I backup to trailers alot so that's big to me.

I could find another OEM stereo, but how much are people going to charge, and how long will it last for?

So I've considered replacing the stereo with aftermarket. 15yrs ago i was into aftermarket stereos, but this was when they were way more basic. I have only ever been in a few vehicles that had a oem radio with android auto or apple car play.

Being able to display Waze on the screen is really the only thing I personally see as a need from it, otherwise I have no issues with my current stereo.

What is the lower price area I'd be looking at that
    -Has bluetooth for phone calls
    -not loose steering wheel controls
    -display Waze from my phone
    -keep my Xm radio
    radio
-I modded my backup camera to move the display from the mirror, to the stereo screen, using https://camera-source.com/2013-tacoma-mirror-to-radio-camera-conversion.html

I dont really want to spend a crazy amount of $, as I dont need a fancy stereo, and not sure how long I'll own the truck for.

I have a 2009 and upgraded my radio about a year or so ago (i really don't know how log ago it was)..

I wanted to get rid of the stock head unit, and the display on the head unit was acting up when it would get hot in the summer.

The main thing I wanted was Android auto so I could use navigation and stream music.

I ended up buying my parts from crutchfield. I bought a Pioneer avh2440 nex and bought the radio install dash trim panel, and box to keep the steering wheel controls also.

Everything worked out great, and I am very happy with the radio and android auto.

It was not long after that, when I was reading more on here and ended up replacing the speakers in all the doors, and now I am getting things ready for an amp for those speakers...

What else do I need to hook up the Pioneer avh2440? I would love to upgrade my 09.

If you go the crutchfield route they will put the what you need in the cart when you pick your radio.
