I hit my rear bumper on a tree. I've been thinking about the best option to replace it. I've been slowly working parts of my truck. Its my daily driver. I've been looking at 3 options. 1, budget rear off-road bumper. 2, quality rear standard off-road bumper. 3, full on cut the bed full protection bumper without swing out.

I go off-road occasionally and would like to do it more. Trying to get the wife in to the idea, but that a whole different issue. So I guess it boils down to what the best option is for non-over lander setup. As I don't see myself doing that. I don't see a lot of rock crawling but how hard it it to damage the bed of the truck if I don't get the full crazy armor bumper.

Thanks for the input in advance.

Been looking at that but not sure I want to add that much weight for a mostly street truck. As well I want something tough enough to have usable recovery points. As I was reading about the ebay bumpers not offering enough support for recovery points. I was looking at this one place on the west coast near Fresno but I think it was like $750. Yet I'm wondering how easy it would be to damage the bed. As they have both the high clearance and the regular style. I'm leaning towards a solid quality bumper but I just wanted some real opinions on some points before i start spending big money on my truck.

I ended up selecting the Mobtown high clearance rear bumper, both for exceptional quality and exceptional design. I refuse to cut corners on a truck that I’ve wanted for over a decade. Buy once cry once.

The net added weight for most rear bumpers is 40-80 lbs after removal of the OEM parts, so you aren’t looking at a massive difference there.

West coast near Fresno... Brute Force Fab? If so, that's what I'm running and LOVE it. Got a couple friends with them, too.

If you want budget, I'd just keep an eye out on stock take-offs from other people removing their bumper for an aftermarket one.

And if you aren't doing anything hard core where you are dragging your rear end, don't worry about the high clearance. The std will save you some money and still have the good recovery points (even though I always trusted my oem hitch).

This is so true. Tacoma bumper weighs nothing, but that trailer hitch is HEAVY. So yeah, if the replacement removes the OEM hitch, the increase isn't bad at all.

Yeah I think it's that company. I have the info saved on my computer. Figured that why I could also get the powder coating done and avoid shipping costs.

If you do plan to scratch up the bumper, rattle can paintjob can be a big plus. Super easy to touch up. Obviously not as perfect looking as good Powder coat... but if you take a hunk outta your powdercoat... gonna be hard to fix that (if you care about aesthetics).

I was in the same boat a few years ago. I bit the bullet and bought a brute force fab standard rear bumper and couldn't be happier. You're at an advantage most of us wish we had, to be in a position to skip the shipping cost. Most people end up paying hundreds to have their bumpers shipped, and it's painful. In addition to solid recovery points, the cutouts for a hi-lift jack are very useful, but you'll also need an offroad/hi-lift style jack.

Oddly enough I already have a hi-lift jack mounted in my truck
