I am pulling shocks and springs off, bed cover, weather tech mats, bed mat, console divider, winch, and bumper.

My buddy is a car dealer and says take everything off, as you get nothing extra for it.

I am taking over to my buddy tomorrow to see what he says.

Yea, I know they use black book, but these trucks hold value in pretty much all market areas.

If you don't like their offer sell it yourself or try another dealer. Your car is now three years old and like a lot of other people have said you could modify yours to be-like a trd pro and save a ton of money. The dealers aren't going to lose money on the deal so unless you're willing to I'd go with option B.

I agree with you, it is probably worth $28 ish Private Party. But no way a dealer is going to be able to sell that truck for more than $28 (To make it worth the while for them)

Most dealers want to make at least $2000-$1500 on your trade. They will put about $600 into conditioning, DMV and processing the truck to be ready for sale.

If I were the used car manager at this dealer, and your 4x4 Sport is as clean as you say, I'm going to hit you at $23K initially so I can get a number from you on where you want to be (Most people have no clue, and just expect a dealer to pay high book) But after negotiating some, realistically your are probably looking at $24-$25K tops from the dealer.

But you should be able to sell this truck all day long, Private for the $28K you want.

It's not what they give you for yours that matters. It's the difference. If they want to give you wholesale for yours tell them you'll give them wholesale for theirs.

I always get a best offer first, then at the end let them know. " Just letting you guys know, I'm keeping my bed mat, tool box, subs, luck ducky chain hanging from the mirror etc..." It's never once an issue at that point.

When I was trading my '14 PreRunner, that I just installed new BFG AT's, the salesman actually told me as I was explaining the tires were two weeks old, with about 800 miles on them. "You don't get any credit or extra for these tires" so I came back with, great can you swap them on my new truck if that's the case?

All of a sudden it got really, really quiet.

If you can afford it just mod your truck into a TRD Pro. I'm sure the grill will become available soon and the hood scoop is findable if you lurk around on here long enough.

For the money you'll have to spend after trade (~13-15K) to get the pro you could go long travel AND buy a supercharger... just food for thought.

Then again if you get good financing vs putting mods on a line of credit then that's another story too... if you're a lucky enough bastard to be able to afford 10-15 K in mods in cash right away then do whatever you want 'cause money at that point is probably not your issue.

If you are thinking of getting rid of your truck sell it outright and put it up on autotrader. I recently sold mine and got more than I paid for it.

Probably a good idea. If I end up having to order the TRD Pro, then I will sell it while I wait on the other one to come in.

I would have gotten up not even thanking them for their time and then left. They sell 06-07 trucks here for 20k. That was an insult.

How is it a dirty business? You can't give cars away for free all day and keep the lights turned on. Buy low and sell high is common sense economics, it works for anybody. If a guy has a year old car from you and wants to trade it in for a newer year model, what possible reason is there for a dealership to do you a favor?

    Gotta pay to play.

don't forget the 4% holdback and what dealer pays from manufactor which is less what the sticker price. the dealer will offer you the lowest trade then they turn around to slap 4 grand on top on use to sell it on the lot.

Yeah. I get this all the time with the products I sell. People say, "hey this went up by x dollars so you guys made x dollars more off me, you're pricks" when in reality we are usually eating up some margin to try to keep prices low and competitive. We all need to eat and trust me, most of the money is sales is made by the middle man and not at the end of the chain.

    No shit. Its called business.

Do you expect something for nothing?

Sure are a lot of people who think they deserve $5k over trade in worth and $5k off of invoice price. If you think you're special and you shouldn't have to pay anything for what you want, go hold a cardboard sign on the street corner. Nobody puts a gun to your head to trade your car in. They give you a number and you either accept it or don't, you want the extra $4k they'll get for it? Do the work yourself then. Quit crying.

There is no getting paid extra so you can do nothing.

Then you bitch and complain that the service department wants $80 to do something you could do on your own for $20. How dare they try to rip you off.

Can't believe people are so entitled. They're operating a business, not doing you a solid.
