    There are three tallest mountains, depending on the definition.
    Generally accepted is Mount Everest, tallest above sea level, though China and Nepal had different values due to their definition of sea level being different. In 2019 a sea level datum based on satellite measurements was established giving a commonly agreed to height.
    The overall tallest, from base to top, is Mauna Kea on the island of Hawaii. Some 20,000 feet of the mountain is below sea level.
    The point farthest from the center of the earth is the peak of Chimborazo Mountain in Ecuador. This is due to it lying close to the equator and because the earth is not a true sphere but is "fat" at the center.
