I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I think if you took off the blocks and replace it with a custom leaf pack about 5" or 6" lower 37's would look sick but if you keep it that high I think your going to need to GO BIG! like 44x18.5x17"

I just think with the amount of lift you have now 35's or 37's are just to small.

I know you do but unless your going with 44's don't get anything larger then 17's trust me it will look goofy

I'm not hatin i think the SAS is sick i just think he needs way bigger tires and a custom leaf pack to complete the lift.

Personally I think it would look way better lowered about 6 inches.
and whether anyone is "hatin" or not, everyone is entitled to there own opinion.

and this whole bs about "it doesn't matter what everyone else thinks, it's what you like" is the biggest croc of crap I have ever read.
If the kid came in here with a pink unicorn airbrushed on the side of his truck and was like "Check out my ride"! and people were sayiin "Well....thats not really my style but hey man, it's all about what you think. It's your truck". wtf ever.
Those are the same people that if they snapped a pic of your truck going down the highway it would be in the "wtf" thread by now.

Props to you for having a clean sas'ed 1st gen and if I had that truck at 16 or in high school in "1982" I would have gotten more ass than a toilet seat. But really I think most of the haters (including myself, but not really hatin, just wondering WHY?) are curious as to why you have several thousand dollars in suspension, tires, sas and a super clean looking truck. And you post pics of it on a 7 inch log?
So my question is......what exactly is the purpose of having that much lift with no articulation. Mud?

You are absolutely right, this is built more for mud.We purchased this truck with the lift already as you see it,why he did it i really dont know.We have since removed the 3" body lift and installed the new shoes. We had a couple oil leaks that my son fixed this weekend. This was something that i knew we could work on together.I am looking into removing the rear blocks. That is indeed on the list. Thanks for the comments guy's,good and bad.

If you guy's have not figured it out yet,i am his dad.We joined this site so that we could learn more about the Tacoma's.This is our first Toyota product.Seems to be pretty good stuff here. What most people dont understand is that he is only 16,and that is why i made the judgement to only go with that size tire.If i were the main driver it would have the biggest tire that i could fit,we also have very strict headlight laws here.It just didnt seem right to put the biggest tire i could and move the headlights down for a first time driver.Slowly but surely we will get it right.Later.

Plenty of good info on here and a lot of good people. All the threads that ask how people like someone's truck end up like this, so don't be put off by it.

Personally I'm in the group that says a bigger tires isn't what you need, it's to lower the suspension. It would lower the center of gravity (first time driver, as you said), and those big rear blocks are promote axle wrap. It woudl also fill up the wheel well gap most folks are pointing out.

Pretty sweet truck overall. Have fun with it. It will become an addiction and it's great that you are helping your son out with it.

I was thinking the same thing at first but now that I think about it he only has a D44 under that thing. If your going over 37's, you need a D60.

Im not talking down on the truck, but with the 4 cyl even with the gears its going to have problems in the mud. You need a good v8 in that thing. Have fun with your build.

    Still haven't seen anything bigger.
The thread started tallest taco. I know there are some tall trucks.
I use to love to lift and max out a truck but priorities have changed. (Gas being so expensive is the other reason).

Very nice setup. I wish I had something like that when I turned 16.
