Sweet truck. Would have loved one when I was your age. I had a '98 tacoma in high school but nowhere near that. Don't let the haters get to you.

    Awesome truck.

Instead of repeating things you've seen from the past 9 pages I'll shine a different light.

Remeber, you DON'T want tall and wide tires for mud. It'll just float, and dig yourself a huge ass hole. You want tall and skinneys. If you get stuck, and it isn't pouring down rain when stuck, skinney tires with an agressive tread will keep digging down, till it reaches dirt, and you'll 95% of the time, dig yourself out.

For what you're runnin now, it's all good. In the future, before you start beating the possum piss out of it, I would invest in some bigger axles. A dana 60 in the front, and a Ford 8" or 9" will work damn good.

Now, I'm going to reinforce what every other good guy said.

It really is neat the you and your dad have a project.
You are a lucky little turd to have that truck in highschool. (Just remember, if you don't want your pecker feelin like a flamethrower, wear a rubber.)

The kid fixed leaks. They took the body lift off.
It sounds like they're learnin, not complaining, and having a good time. That's what we need out of the younger generation. Too many people I've seen don't want to do anything for themselves, and want everything handed to them on a silver platter.

    Kudos OP and OP's Dad.

Every body keeps sayin bigger tires but we have laws in louisiana that says that our head light s can be as high as 54"inches mine is at 53.5" inches so i kind of cannot put bigger tires

Beau your only other option is to mount some headlights below your bumper to meet the specs. I have a few friends that have had it done over the years.

    Ouch....

A couple of the Mudbog trucks here (Rockwall County Mudbog FTW) have chain ladders that they built, or you can just get a small section of tow strap, put it on the frame and use it as a foothold.

I think you should carry the family stepladder in the cab haha

As it sits I dont like it but I think it has a lot of potential. It needs bigger tires or less lift or both. If you go bigger tires that stock toyota rear end will be toast and the dana 44 front wont be far behind it.

I think with 37's and about 8 or 9" of lift it would look awesome.

Edit: If you don't have money and don't want to break stuff, stay out of the mud. Mud is evil

Mud breaks stuff. Plain and Simple. There isn't much you can do about it.

But, when you're fixing what you broke, you can learn how to make it stronger, or learn not to do that again.

I will say that when I saw the truck the previous owner hadn't intoduced it to mud. If its just a looker then the larger tires won't be an issue as it has already had Big Arse tires.
