I have some bilstein I need to install and I don’t own the tools to install them! If you guys where to do a mod day, what day?

 

Couldn't say at this point. The OGT is at the stealership right now, where I'm getting screwed. Every time I take the truck in for an idle issue, they always say it's the IABV and it never is, but I guess if I want them to fix the problem, I'm going to have to let them replace it so they can't use it as an excuse. It pisses me off, but I guess that's what I get for being ignorant of that computer controlled bullshit. Just from speaking to the tech yesterday while he put on a dog-and-pony show for me to demonstrate how the valve was not working (which was bullshit, but I wasn't confident enough to call them on it until I got home and played with the other IABV I had already changed out), I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is and it's one of the two things I thought might be wrong with it. I bet they are going to try to tell me it's the ECU next.



Edit: It really sucks to know enough to know when I'm being screwed but not enough to figure out the problem on my own.

I like Toyota of Wesley Chapel. Went in to get a recall done and then the sales rep was trying to pressure me into changing out my diff fluids. Once I told him I’ll do it myself if anything, he shut up unlike Toy of TB

 

Yeah, but almost the same thing happened at WCT. Only I paid them the diagnosis charge for them to tell me it was the IABV and when I went home and bought a new one and installed it, it didn't fix shit. TOTB took care of me before when I first got the truck. I took it there to get it inspected to see what problems I might be looking at and to get the timing belt changed since it was due, and other than being pricey IMHO, they didn't go overboard. Took it there this time because I had to ride my bike home, and it was the closest place to me.

 

In conclusion, dealerships suck haha

 

Pretty much any shop sucks. You roll the dice anywhere you take it. Only reason I take it to the stealership for crap I can't do on my own is because at least it'll get OEM parts and a warranty.

 

Well, I got the truck back and they definitely stuck it in and broke it off, even though I did manage to get 10% off the bill. They also claimed that all they did was replace the IABV and did nothing else. The up shot is, the truck is now idling better than it has in 3 years or so, so whether I buy it that the IABV was the problem or not, the issue is fixed, even if it did cost me about 4x what it would have cost me to replace the valve myself in less than a half an hour. (I'm still not buying it that the valve was the problem since I swapped it out myself before I took the truck to them and what are the odds that two different valves had the exact same issue?)

At least Todd will be right there with ya as will I unless I find a deal like Timbo did on a 97-98 T4R, then Todd's gonna be the new owner of the OGT so he can put it on tons and 40s to keep up with Tim. I'll be the proud owner of the OG4, OD Green T4R with 35s, 4.88s, and way better brakeover and departure angles.

Either way, I'll soon be joining the "I got a winch and you don't" crowd. Gotta Warn 10k Xeon in box sitting in my room.

I looked at 3rd gens for a while but I need a truck bed. Here’s a pic for ya.

 

I’ve had good experience at Sun Toyota. Bought my truck at ToTB, took it to them for 5K service, and they were complete idiots. Went back to Sun for my 10K (where I’d had my T4R serviced) and they treated me right (in addition to having decent techs).

 

ToTB bought out Sun Toyota a year ordo ago, granted still run by different managers, etc.

I'm giving WCT a try tomorrow. Honestly, they actually already seemed very knowledgeable compared to ToTB regarding SCer, etc. We'll see, got some warranty work anyway so.... Fingers crossed
