I do know a guy. I can see if he's interested.

Looks a lot more badass than it did in the HS Precision stock, yeah? The bipod is just on there for show. Until I get my pet loads established, I'm still going to shoot it off that BR front rest. Then I'm either going to trade the bipod on the AR between them or I'm going to get another Harris. That one is a cheap POS. I did manage to score some Hornady 130gr ELD Poly tipped Match bullets. No movement on the powder front yet.

Yup, that's the 40x45mm LCS. It's not going to work for me though. It's fine for now for load development, but once I get out beyond 300 yrds, I'm probably going to have a hard time with it due to the reticule not really having any hold off reference points. When I go beyond 1000 yards, I probably won't have enough elevation. The scope only has 35 MOA of elevation and it's currently on a 20 MOA rail. If I put it in a 20 MOA mount for a total of 40 MOA, I couldn't zero it at 100 yards. I'm looking to replace it with a VX-6 7-42x 56mm with a TMOA Plus reticule. Won't be for a while yet though. I have a lot of work to do before I get out that far. The goal is to ring a 3'x3' steel plate at 1 mile. I have no idea where I'm going to find to do this, but that's my goal.

One odd thing I noticed is with the pistol grip, I can barely touch the trigger without dropping the firing pin. I'm going to have to set it a bit heavier than it is. I figure it's the angle change of my hand. My finger is now pulling straight back instead of back and up.

I recently started an 80% lower for a friend. He swore I’d be able to do it with the provided jig and a drill press (I told him that you really needed a mill to do it correctly), so I caved and tried it. Never again. This is the most janky thing I may have ever done. He was going to give me another 80% lower for myself but I told him don’t even worry about it. I’ll just spend the $99 and get a stripped lower with a serial #

If you can find one. I've been looking to get an Aero Precision upper and a Rock River assembled lower for the .458 SOCOM build, but I've been coming up dry every time I check.

Hahaha, the Fuddlore came up in expert testimony in Judge Benitez' through dismantling of the Cali 'Assault Weapons' ban.

Read the whole thing, it's well worth the effort if you haven't already, but the point of interest comes up on page 43.

Cali's Attorney General would be an idiot to appeal this to the 9th Circuit. Sure, he might get Benitez' rulling overturned but that will just set it up to go to SCOTUS and if Benitez' ruling gets upheld by SCOTUS, then that's pretty much going to torpedo and Federal AR bans the Biden administration or the Democrat congress have planned.

I kinda hope for the country it goes all the way to SCOTUS, but I kinda hope for Californians the AG just accepts the inevitable and doesn't appeal.

 I think I'm going to have a stroke, there's no way this made it into the CA AWB case.

It does look like a good read. It's interesting to see what we "know" as enthusiasts translated into legalese/layman's terms. Thanks for sharing it!

Don't let my cynicism mar you, but I don't think the outlook is bright. The CA AG has already appealed and he'll likely win in the 9th Circuit. SCOTUS has been super skittish on taking any 2A cases as of late because Roberts is keenly aware of how politicized the SCOTUS's rulings have become. He has been steering the court and his vote to the left in order to placate the public and prevent meddling by the executive or legislative in expanding the court. I sincerely hope I'm wrong though!

The Decision Judge Benitez wrote was in pretty plain language. I wouldn't have been able to read it twice without melting down my brain if it was all in legalese, lol. In point of fact, IMHO, though he tried to stick with calling the AR-15 and other banned firearms Modern Rifles, he did make quite a few errors calling them "Assault Rifles" or "Assault Weapons", which the layman assumes are the same thing instead of, as we know, an "Assault Rilfe" is a military weapon that fires an intermediate cartridge and has a full auto machine gun mode, while an "Assault Weapon" is a made up term used by the gun grabbers to scare the ignorant public.

Anyway, I'm going to remain hopeful because I don't think the midterms are going to go the way they have historically. The biggest thing that worries me is by the time this makes it to the SCOTUS, Biden will have already rammed a new Federal ban down our throats and the SCOTUS will refuse to hear the case on the grounds of it being moot.

First time I've seen it. Is it ethanol free or something?

Edit: okay it's 15% Ethanol instead of 10% like 87 octane. Says not to use it in vehicles older than 2001 or in your small engines like lawn mowers because it will damage stuff--I'm guessing it eats O-ring seals and the like. It's supposed to burn cleaner than regular.

I think I'm a cheap bastich. I A:don't want to drive to the nearest gas station (Florida and Waters I think) just to get ethanol free gas, and B: don't want to pay the premium for it. I just dump like 2 oz IIRC of Seafoam in my one gallon gas can to stabilize it and use regular E10 87 from the Mobil around the corner. Of course, I've never done a cost analysis to see if a can of Seafoam ends up costing me more, but I haven't used a whole bottle of it yet...but then I only have to refill my gas can 2 or three times a year. Before that, I had the mower's fuel consumption mapped out and I put just enough in it to mow the grass and have it sputtering at the very end...ideally. In practice some times it worked, some times it died with about two passes left, which was fine by me, and most of the time I had to clamp the handle down and let it run for about 5 or 10 minutes before it ran dry.

Being as I've been using the Seafoam in it since this current lawn mower was new, I would imagine it has a very clean top end, haha.

It was actually 5 to 10 cents cheaper than 87 which had me even more confused (maybe an error on the gas station, not sure).

Ball joint spacers and lift blocks, am I doing it right?
Brownell's has Aero's in stock, just not in black. I was looking at them a few minutes ago after getting one of their million emails.

With my guns, I guess I'm limited by my means mostly, but I'm still using an old sloppy R700 action (though it has been trued) instead of a custom precision action that will set you back a grand or more depending on how deep down the rabbit hole you want to go. Also, I'm pretty sure my AR, while, IMHO, is a pretty nice rifle and performs to my expectations, it's probably a mid range brand at best. Definitely not like an LMT or something.

Yeah, I was looking at Aero's website and they had complete lowers (in black) minus the butt stock in stock. It was an extreme act of will that I didn't order one. If they had had the upper I wanted in stock, I don't think I could have resisted buying it. I'm going to build the upper first, since I can always do a quick upper swap with my current lower when I want to head out to the range for target shooting. I don't imagine the .458 SOCOM is going to be pleasant to shoot for very many rounds at a time. Probably a magazine or two at best before my old shoulder starts complaining. Although, with the right muzzle brake it might surprise me since I'm looking to use light bullets with a moderate load to achieve around 1500 FPS or so. Haha, it's weird to think about a 300 grain bullet as "light".

More like the highest quality I can afford. It's the nut behind the butt that makes a lot of the difference. And yeah, that nut is definitely not exceptional. I've never done anything I've been terribly impressed with, at least not that I could repeat. It's a work in progress though.

LOL, ayup, just when you think you've arrived you only discover someone has moved the goal posts on you. Fortunately, I can't even fathom going out past a mile. I mean, yeah, if I can get to a mile, I can definitely see the potential that I might be able to conquer 2, maybe 3 miles, but that's definitely beyond my means in equipment (since I'd probably have to go to a .375 CheyTac or at least a .338 LM to get out that far), athleticism, and just plain too much work. The rifle would be a heavy sombeetch to hump around.

Best .357 Mag revolver I ever shot was my old man's Ruger Security Six with a 4.5" barrel, IIRC. He had a Python and a few other makes, but IMHO, the old Security Six was the best of them.

Very calm and cloudy here. I was up at 2AM when the storm was 60 miles west of Tampa. It kind of disintegrated to TS status then it reached that point.
Didn't even have many branches to clean up in the back yard. Truly blessed.

Hello Tampa Tacos, I feel I'm still fairly new to the area, and figured I'd introduce myself. Strictlytoyz sent me a link a while back, and finally came on board.
Anyway, does anyone have a good tire / wheel place they use here in Tampa. I'll be in the market soon for some rubber, and possibly wheels. Thanks for any info.
